The JZX100 Toyota Chaser is highly desired by enthusiasts. Models like this 1997 Tourer V are among the cream of the crop, boasting a turbocharged inline 6, fan-favorite styling, and the perfect interior layout for daily driving. Having traveled a mere 83k verified miles, this one is a good buy as well and is barely broken in when it comes to these dependable Toyota sedans. The exterior is finished in White Pearl (051), and save for a replacement of the rear trunk lid, the stylish body lines have held up well over the past couple of decades. The exterior sports Aimgain Euro aero on the front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper, and subtle privacy tint adorns the rest of the vehicle. Additionally, aftermarket coilovers give the chassis a hefty drop and tuck the 19" Work SC2 quite nicely. While there are some expected light chips and dings in the paint from typical road use, the outside isn't too worse for the wear. If you're looking for the definitive Japanese Classic sedan, this Chaser is the ticket!
If you're looking for a summer cruiser, Cold A/C, an electric moonroof, and functional power windows are non negotiables for most. Fortunately, this Chaser has all of the above and a handful of additional equipment to make the drive more enjoyable for all. The driver benefits from a tilt and telescoping steering column, and dual SRS airbags are mounted up front and at your sides so your passengers can benefit from some additional safety measures as well. The dash materials are all in good shape, resisting most of the common UV distortion seen on these models although we must note a few areas present around the defrost vents. The lower carbon Kevlar trim houses a fully functional digital automatic climate control system. New for the JZX100 platform, the air vents electronically oscillate to evenly distribute cold air throughout the cabin, although the rightmost vent is no longer present. Adjacent to the HVAC, OEM audio is present but is currently inoperable. All four power windows and locks work as advertised, and a power moonroof slides fore and aft with no issues. The seats are trimmed in a plush striped cloth. Better bolstered and more comfortable than their JZX90 predecessors, the bucket seats are surely the highlight of this interior and show almost no notable defects. The rear bench can squeeze in three additional passengers if needed and the trunk offers a wide berth for your transportation of groceries or luggage. The headliner and carpets are clean, and the cabin is in good shape overall although the mirrors no longer adjust or fold electrically. Still, for a daily commuter, you'd be hard pressed to find an equivalent sport sedan here in the states!
A champion at raw, reliable power and smooth operation, Toyota's 1JZ-GTE is a truly perfect mate for this chassis. Better yet, ours is fresh off a recent in-house service, including a new 12V battery which helps this one crank over the first time, every time. As with most vehicles, lubrication is of the utmost importance, and we've done the legwork of installing a new front main seal and new valve cover gaskets to get the most out of our fresh oil and filter service. Additionally, a new timing belt and water pump were installed to make sure you're covered for the next 100,000 km's. New spark plugs across the board help this one cruise smoothly to highway speeds, and a new fuel filter keeps any unwanted gunk out of your fuel system. We even changed the weary old radiator with a new unit to aid in thermal management, and we had the ECU professionally rebuilt with a lifetime warranty! The automatic gearbox throws the power rearward without hesitation and is a perfect choice if you're looking to pilot this one on longer highway drives. An aftermarket exhaust helps the Yamaha engineered powerplant sing without being too overbearing under load. Aftermarket coilovers help dial in the ride height while also improving cornering in the twisties, and we changed the right front lower ball joint and right rear knuckle bushing to keep the drivetrain in compliance with VA state safety inspection regulations. The brakes do a fine job at halting this Tourer V, and we put fresh Falken rubber on all four corners and we threw it on the rack for a fresh alignment
