Stock #6353The Hilux Surf is our best-selling truck. When it's finished in (204) Black and powered by a legendary turbodiesel engine, it practically flies off the shelf! This 1997 is set off by an aggressive OEM rear spoiler, factory rear tire swingarm, privacy tint, and black, refinished OEM alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, etching, and scuffs the paint is in good shape and this SSR-X boasts a scant 85k verified and documented miles on the clock. Fresh off a recent service, this well-rounded, turn-key five-seater is ideal for those looking to daily drive year round or looking to build a tenacious overlander. Efficient, powerful, reliable, and easy to service, this Japanese Classic is beyond reproach! The cabin is in good nick and features the desirable gray charcoal upholstery and faux carbon fiber trim. Dual SRS airbags are standard for those riding up front, and the driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support. The dashboard lacks any cracking or distortion with the center stack close by and at hand. The automatic climate control is simple to operate and can mix A/C and heat at a moments notice. The cloth lacks any major rips, tears, or stains, although the driver seat cushion does have some wear to the foam. The middle row can tumble forward, fold flat, and also 4-way reclines. The headliner, carpets, and door cards are in fair shape and haven't sustained major damage over the years. To make daily use more enjoyable, power-folding mirrors, electric windows, and power locks all operate. Even the rear hatch glass can be rolled downward to accommodate some lumber from Lowes. An optional power reverse mirror can be utilized and drops down out of the spoiler to provide a view of what's behind this Toyota. That's not to say the cabin is perfect as we wanted to note the Pioneer head unit has given up the ghost. On the positive side, the OEM mats are included with the purchase of this Surf, and at 25 years old, the condition is still remarkable.A strong selling point is certainly the 1KZ-TE under the hood. This grunty four-banger is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life care of two new 12v batteries. A new fuel filter was installed and the 1K pulls hard to redline. It also sounds decent thanks to its brand new catback exhaust. Power is fed through a beefy automatic and then to a selective transfer case. One of our trained techs has serviced the t-case, and front and rear differentials with all new fluid. The driver can choose between 2WD and 4WD on the fly and for sticky situations, low range and a center locker can be deployed. The suspension was given a proper refresh and this KZN185 drives above average. Thanks to four new shocks, rear upper and lower control arms, new front lower control arms, and new front ball joints, you can rest assured you won't be beaten up on the daily commute. We didn't stop there, as we also replaced the rear panhard bar and rear sway bar links. New inner and outer tie rods were installed so we could complete an alignment, and this Toyota goes right where you point it. The power steering system benefits from new steering rack bushings, and is light and easy to articulate. The ABS brakes stop this SUV without breaking a sweat and grip comes from four brand new 33" Falken all-terrain tires we mounted and balanced at each corner. Turn key and ready to roll, this Hilux drives like a dream!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
