The flagship of Land Cruiser model never disappoints and receives high marks for reliability, capability, and "wow" factor. The new facelift design gives this Prado a sleek look with more modern, sculpted lines. This 1996 Toyota Prado TZ is finished in a British Green/ over Gray Two-tone (K12) and has been well taken care of by the previous owner in Japan. The body is in great shape aside from some minor nicks and blemishes and this tough SUV is offered with only a mere 45K verified and documented miles on the chassis. Outfitted with OEM rainguards and factory alloy wheels wrapped in new chunky Falken tires, the clean exterior remains true to the original design that Toyota intended. Recently service and legally imported, this spacious, safe, and durable 4x4 is a bonafide Japanese Classic.

The interior of the 90 series received some changes for the 1996 model year. Spacious is an understatement when you describe the cabin of this SUV and theis7 passenger rig comes equipped with a 3rd row for those with kids and friends. The dash is intact with no cracking or bubbling of note, and includes standard dual SRS airbags for some reassurance. The glove box includes the original owner's manual which is a nice find, and if you can read Japanese then you will have some great reading material. The OEM radio is fully functional and works great, the wood grain trim breaks up the color scheme throughout the interior bits. The door cards are in good shape with no signs of heavy wear or tear. The seats are trimmed in a light gray cloth that is soft to the touch and has no notable wear on the bolsters. The carpets are showing no stains and the headliner matches its condition. The sunroof is nice for a breeze and makes the cabin feel larger as it lets in tons of natural light. The automatic climate control delivers cold A/C and the heat is fully operable just in time for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. Being the flagship of the fleet of SUVs in the Toyotas lineup, this is nicely equipped with driver convenience and comfort in mind. The power windows, mirrors, and locks are all operable making the daily commute comfy. The power-folding mirror feature is not working on the driver side and we wanted to note that. The field monitor is mounted in the center in plain view but is no longer functional and the analog cluster gauges are easy to read at a glance. A mix of modern luxury design and rugged capability is the perfect storm for this 90 series.

The engine that powers this Prado is easy to own and maintain. Whether you are a mechanic or not, the design is simple and straightforward. Since this 5VZ-FE V6 engine was offered here in the US, parts are readily available and you can easily have your local dealership attend to your maintenance. Thanks to the new 12V battery, this rig fires right up with a slight twist of the key. The transmission shifts easily and is not harsh once it engages. The powerband is broad and this heavyweight easily gets you up to your desired speed when called upon. The full-time 4WD system works seamlessly and even includes a locking center differential and low gearing when the situation calls for it. The brakes confidently slow this Prado down to a stop on a dime if you request it and the suspension takes on the road imperfections like a champ and is very forgiving on impact. The trained technicians made the call on replacing the timing belt and radiator hoses during the inspection, giving the next owner peace of mind upon ownership. Off of a recent oil and filter service, this rig is turned key ready for you to pick up here at Japanese Classics!
