1996 Toyota KZJ95 Land Cruiser
The J95 Land Cruiser Prado is a modern feeling SUV despite its age. Spacious, safe, and dependable, this eight-seat example would make a killer year-round daily driver, weekend trail rig, or family hauler. Powered by a punchy intercooled turbo diesel, this wonderfully well rounded truck is offered with a mere 104k verified and documented miles. Enthusiasts will love the driveline thanks to its manual gearbox, center locker, and full-time 4WD this 1996 has been optioned with. Finished in Stellar Blue over Gray Metallic, the paint is in good shape aside from a dent on the tailgate that is largely obscured by the spare tire, and a few minor dings and chips associated with normal use. Set off by a set of OEM rainguards and aftermarket 16" alloys, this Prado TX looks just as good as it drives. For those needing a reliable, capable, and practical Land Cruiser, this one is it! Turn-key and ready to rock, this tremendous Toyota just needs a new owner and an excuse for an immediate road trip!
The cabin includes loads of room and plenty of features. Upgrades include the large, touchscreen Clarion headunit which works like a charm. It brings a more modern feel to the cabin and is mounted between the functional field monitor and the digital automatic climate control system. Both of these items work as they should, and the latter is quick to provide cold A/C to all within the vehicle. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and power windows, locks, and mirrors. These all work like they should, other than the power folding function on the driver's side mirror. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding and the driver can see far above traffic. There are dual front SRS airbags on hand to add some reassurance when behind the wheel. The upholstery is in above average shape on the seats and door cards. They lack any major wear, such as rips, stains, or tears, and break up the gray tones of the cabin. The middle row can fold forward and the rear row can be stowed against the D-pillar to maximize cargo room. The carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse, and have been protected by the OEM carpet mats, which are included in the sale. Aside from some scuffs on the headliner it's really tough to complain about the interior. The glovebox still contains the owner's manuals and maintenance records, to boot!
The body on frame Prado is a durable and tough platform! Powered by an intercooled version of the 1KZ-TE, they have a reputation for never giving up! This 3.0L is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly with a twist of the key, thanks to two new 12v batteries. The engine idles with confidence and is mated to a real-deal manual gearbox. Shifts are communicative and direct as new shifter bushings were just installed by one of our trained techs. It makes this truck so much more fun to drive and rewards the pilot with newfound control over the driveline, which is absent from automatic versions. The Prado gets up to highway merging speeds without breaking a sweat and is easy to maneuver around the city compared to the modern monstrosities we call SUVs. The suspension is confident and can take large and small road imperfections with confidence. The brakes also feel reassured, and the 16" alloys are all wrapped in new all-terrain tires that can deliver all the grip you need. We even installed a matching 31" Falken on the spare, before she left our shop. This is the perfect all-around SUV. Durable, fun to drive, and unique this Land Cruiser will only continue to go up in value, so make this Japanese Classic yours today!
