Toyota's craftsmanship is known worldwide for its durability and the Celsior is perhaps the quintessential example of this. While generally similar to the initial UCF11 Celsior, the second generation was a seamless evolution of the original design becoming a lighter, more powerful, and shockingly more luxurious package. Finished in a stately Diamond White Pearl (051) and offered with a mere 33K verified miles this one is not to be missed. Both the paint and body are in exceptional shape. We do always note that these aren't showroom new at the end of the day. Small scratches in the clear, stone chips, a few errant door dings are always to be expected. Overall this one is in seriously good condition though which is very reassuring. Frankly, the styling needs no introduction, though the facelifted model is a bit sleeker than the outgoing one which is a nice perk.

The quiet and spacious cabin has aged well and was very obviously well cared for back in Japan. The interior is clean, spacious, and full of rich materials with no shortage of power options. Power-folding mirrors, locks, cruise control, and windows are all standard and work as they should. To accommodate drivers of all sizes, a power-adjustable, tilting, and telescoping column is functional and both occupants up front have SRS airbags for safety's sake. Since that wasn't enough both drive and passenger have fully power-adjustable seats, even down to the seatbelt height adjustment. Dual-zone climate control allows for both occupants to find the right temperature without having to fight over the controls. The second-generation Celsior also came with one of the first factory touch screens which is an impressive bit of technology for being 25 years old. The tan cloth used is particularly soft and the seats are incredibly plush. Even the seats themselves utilize a new spring design to increase comfort on long drives. The seats are in great shape with hardly any signs of wear. Typically we see some wear along the bolsters or some discoloration over the years but this one has been spared from all of that which is rather impressive due to the light color. Even the expansive dash is crack-free with no typical signs of sun damage. The carpeting shows just as well and even has the fancy factory floor mats in surprisingly clean shape. While this one isn't quite as luxurious as the F-Package models, you'll be hard-pressed to find something this option laden at a better price.

The tried and true drivetrain included in this Celsior is known for its bulletproof reliability and silky operation. Fresh off a revision and power bump, the 4.0L compact 1UZ-FE V8 powers this sedan sending power to the rear wheels. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the engine mates to a silky smooth automatic and gets this four-door up to interstates speeds with ease. The height-adjustable, factory air suspension keeps the occupants insulated from the road, and sorts out all the bumps with confidence. The power steering is light, and the brakes impressive, making for an ideal commuter car or family hauler. Thanks to a new set of tires you've got no issue with grip regardless of the weather. Its automatic transmission has several selectable modes, however, most all of us will simply drop it straight into drive and cruise on. The trans engages without any hiccups and is surprisingly quick to shift. Thanks to a new battery the 1UZ fires up hesitation free and is very quiet at idle. Since these are fundamentally the same as the USDM variant you can have it serviced by your local Lexus dealer if you wanted to. For those into the VIP scene, there is no shortage of parts readily available to make this car really your own. This platform has stood the test of time and has consistently been one of the best platforms that we bring over. Great to drive, easy to work on, and has proven to be bulletproof. What more could you ask for in the perfect daily driver?
