Subaru utilized some of the most extreme conditions imaginable across the globe as the proving grounds for the GC8 STI. With numerous podiums in the WRC, Subaru's on-track victories boosted sales of the track-tuned STI models at the dealerships. The lightweight chassis, powerful turbocharged engine, and surefooted AWD turned an econobox into a spicy four-door weapon turned loose onto Japanese streets. This special 1996 Version III STI is finished in Glacier White (230) and offered with only 63k verified and documented miles. Aside from the usual light scratches, dings, and scuffs associated with daily use, the body and paint show extremely well. The exterior of the STI remains as Subaru intended with its subtly impactful factory side skirts, rear spats, and OEM rear spoiler. A trick set of 5zigen wheels complement the factory body quite well, and give this GC8 a killer OEM+ aesthetic. Fun to drive, easy to service, and highly collectible, it's easy to see why these timeless Subarus are certified Japanese Classics!

The interior is just as well kept as the exterior. The seats are fitted with a two-tone grey color combination throughout both rows, and are in great shape. Red accents on the shoulder support area and stitching allow any passerby to easily identify how special this Subaru truly is. The door panels are in nice shape and the fabric inserts have no notable lifting or excessive wear. The dash is free of any cracks or warping and houses a simple-to-use Kenwood headunit. The STI carbon gauge cluster is easy to read and all the switchgear is at hand making daily use enjoyable. The power equipment such as power locks, power mirrors, and power windows work, and both the A/C and heat function well, allowing the Subaru to be comfortably used in any climate. The carpet is free of any major stains as is the headliner, the latter of which is taught and doesn't sag. This Subaru’s interior was well cared for in its prior life, and even retains its carpeted floor mats and original owner’s manuals.

The STI's driveline has proven itself over the years, in part due to just how well it works. The potent EJ20K powers this five-seater and the 2.0L is fresh off an oil and filter service. A new 12v battery helps this boxer-four promptly crank to life, and should last for years to come! The boxer is linked to a five-speed manual gearbox. To make gear changes feel more reassuring new shifter bushings were installed and rowing through the gears is a blast. The acceleration brings a smile to your face and a new turbocharger rams plenty of air down the EJ's gullet. It handles impressively too, with mechanical grip coming from the symmetrical all-wheel drive system, this puppy handles like it's on rails. The large brakes reel down this sedan from higher speeds, and can be trusted when called upon thanks to new front rotors. The alloys are all wrapped in new tires at all four corners for plenty of grip, reducing road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
