This 1996 is an extremely clean rig, and is finished in a classic Stellar Blue (8L7) over Gray two-tone. Adorned with refinished 16″ OEM alloys, an OEM spare tire swingarm, a stylish factory rear spoiler, an OEM optional spare tire cover, classic graphics, OEM rainguards, and an aggressive OEM bash bar, the paint is in good shape overall aside from some light dings, chips, and scrapes. Interior Overview

The cabin is in above-average shape and was clearly cared for in Japan. The driver benefits from adjustable lumbar support and an adjustable steering column to find the perfect driving position. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and dual SRS airbags are standard. A rare and functional OEM TV radio works like a charm and supplements the cabin with some tunes. For those who plan to daily drive the power windows, power locks, and power mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion.  The heat can get that cabin nice and toasty and the air conditioner is on standby, ready to tackle summer swelters. Power windows, power locks, and power mirror all work like a charm, improving the motoring experience. The rear glass powers down to improve airflow and makes loading cargo seamless. The headliner is in good shape, as are the door cards and carpets, and even the owner’s manuals, maintenance booklets, and radio user guide are still sitting in the glovebox. Mechanical Overview

The 1KZ-TE is a legendary mill. Beloved for its low running costs and ease of service, this 3.0 liter is also powerful. It churns to life care of a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. A new intake air filter helps the four-banger to breathe freely and a new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of the engine. To keep the oil level on full one of our trained techs replaced the old valve cover gasket with a new one and we also took care of the half-moon seal while we were in there. The 1KZ runs right as rain and is linked to a stout automatic gearbox. Rehabbed with a new pan seal, the transmission makes good use of the copious amounts of low-end grunt produced and is geared properly for highway use, too. The selective transfer case allows the pilot to choose between two and four-wheel drive on the fly. For those who have a beach outing planned or some whitecaps to summit, an optional center locker is equipped which fixes the power split 50/50 front and rear. If even more grip is needed a low range can be engaged, as well. The suspension is predictable and rides well. New front lower control arms, new front lower ball joints, and new front sway bar links were installed prior to state safety inspection. The ABS brakes feel confident and the power steering is direct, and this truck benefits from new inner and outer tie rods and new steering rack bushings. The OEM alloys are wrapped in new 31″ Falken rubber. Freshly aligned, they will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and will provide all the year-round grip you’ll ever need.
