The J95 Land Cruiser is a modern driving sport utility. Our 1996 Prado TZ is a tremendous turbodiesel 4x4 rig, offered with only 103k verified and documented miles. In Toyota speak this is barely broken in, and our turn-key seven-seater is fresh off a recent service. Finished in a Stellar Blue over Dark Graphite two-tone (K14) the paint is in good shape aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Safe and spacious, this refined hauler would make for a dependable daily driver, kid hauler, or adventure mobile. No matter how the next owner puts this Japanese Classic workhorse to use, we know they will love it!

The cabin is downright cavernous and feels wide for a JDM SUV of this era. These Prado's come with dual SRS front airbags for some added reassurance when behind the wheel The dash lacks any cracking or distortion and houses an OEM Field Monitor to keep an eye on the exterior conditions. The center stack includes automatic digital climate control and the A/C blows cold! The OEM audio is functional too, although we much prefer hearing all the turbo sounds from the 1KZ under the bonnet. There is a generous amount of other amenities for the driver to enjoy. Those include power folding mirrors, electric locks, power windows, and even a retractable electric sunroof. These all work like a charm and make daily use enjoyable. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have been well cared for. They lack any major imperfections as do the seats. We chose to keep the rare, OEM protective seat covers and they really match the 90 aesthetic. Even the owner's manuals, maintenance booklets, and spare key are still on hand to complete the package.

The 90 was the successor to the 70 which had a two-decade-long production run in Japan. This KZJ95 has a stout and sturdy powertrain, and this 1KZ-TE is a legendary mill in its own right. This version is intercooled for more torque and lower EGT's, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. Two new 12v batteries were installed, and a new alternator has replaced the tired old one so the dual Super Starts can retain a charge. The 3.0L idles with confidence and one of our trained techs has replaced the valve cover gasket to keep her topped up on oil. Power is fed through a smooth shifting automatic to all four wheels. The full-time 4WD system is seamless, and if you happen to take a beach trip a center locking differential and low gearing can be engaged at a moment's notice. The suspension has plenty of ground clearance and takes large and small potholes with confidence. The brakes a capable now, thanks to new rotors and pads that were installed on the front axle while this Toyota was on our lift. To complete the stateside reconditioning, new all-terrain tires were installed at all four corners. The new rubber looks mean and more importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. We even replaced the spare tire for good measure.
