There's a lot to love about a 70 series Land Cruiser. It's the most classic chassis we sell at the dealership, but that doesn't mean it's short on amenities or drivability. Models like this 1996 also have the allure of a manual transmission, three rows of seating, and an unstoppable diesel 4WD drivetrain to power it all. Finished in Black over Metallic Silver (2AG), this Prado looks great too. Set off by slim rainguards, method racing wheels and a rear hitch receiver, the old school appeal is killer and there are only a few scratches, dings, and chips from daily use. Even the 134k miles on the clock are verified and aid desirability tremendously. While the aesthetics are clean we did want to note a prior replacement of the front bumper in Japan. A neo classic hauler with a ton of collectability and off-road potential, this is a Japanese Classic in every essence of the term.

The interior is a standout, with custom leather seat covers and a full slate of power amenities to make daily use a walk in the park. Even the dash has resisted any serious UV damage or cracks, apart from one nick atop the glovebox. The center stack features a functional climate control unit with cold A/C, and it even has a modern Pioneer headunit with Bluetooth functionality. Also aiding comfort, the power windows work like a charm as do the locks and electric side mirrors. Upholstered in real leather skins, the middle and rear rows match and can fit 5 additional passengers with ease. If you're the type to prioritize cargo space, the middle row can tumble forward, and you can stow the rear jump seats atop the D pillars. The headliner is tight and tidy, and the carpets are in good nick for their age. A Nardi woodgrain steering wheel is tilt adjustable and feels great compared to the flimsy stock unit it replaced. In fact, if you can see past a hairline dash crack and some wear to the touch points, this cabin should be primed and ready for its lucky next owner!

Toyota knew what they were doing with the 70 series Prado, and the unstoppable turbodiesel drivetrain stands as a testament to that. Like any good truck, good maintenance is required to keep the mechanicals in tip-top shape, and our trained technicians have taken care of a comprehensive service to keep you on track for the road ahead. To start, two new 12v batteries were dropped in to aid ignition, and we changed out the engine air filter and fuel filter for a bit of a tune up. A fresh oil and filter service was also performed, and we installed a new valve cover gasket and half moon seal up top to ensure you won't lose a leak of lubricant. The 1KZ is a torque monster, and this 3.0 has no issues getting up to and maintaining highway speeds. The enthusiast's choice, a 5 speed manual gearbox makes gear selection easy, and it's mated to a selective transfercase so you can engage 4WD when the going gets rough. For beach trips or serious off-road outings, you can electronically lock the front hubs and slip into low gearing. We refreshed the suspension with new front and rear trailing arm bushings, panhard bushings, and a new steering stabilizer. This Prado is easy to maneuver and it soaks up bumps and imperfections like a pro. New brake pads on the front stop this Cruiser on a dime, and we wrapped the methods in fresh Falken rubber, sure to keep you glued to the pavement for tens of thousands of miles to come!
