Long live the Land Cruiser! This was likely Toyota's driving philosophy when designing these 70 Series models, and these capable trucks are still produced new today! This 1996 is stunning, finished in a fresh coat of Marine Blue (LRC006). This jaw-dropping rig is accented by OEM rainguards, 15" refinished alloys, an OEM bashbar, privacy tint, and a black roof and fender flairs. Aside from a few light imperfections, the body is in good nick and this turn-key daily driver is fresh off a recent service. Powered by a durable diesel, this lifted J78 boasts a mere 151k verified and documented miles on the ticker. Made for a weekend escape to the mountains, cruising with the family, or as a striking year-round daily driver, Japanese Classics like this are hard to find and are only going up in value from here.
The cabin is in above-average shape and includes many power features, and a few handy upgrades. The leather seat covers steal the show, and bring an upscale feel to the cabin. They lack any major rips or tears and complement the wood grain steering wheel. A Bluetooth-equipped Pioneer touchscreen head unit is a worthwhile audio upgrade that can blast some tunes to supplement your first road trip. The driver benefits from a tilt adjustable steering wheel and functional power lumbar support, windows, electric locks, and power mirrors. Additionally, keyless entry and working A/C make daily driving enjoyable and work like a charm! The carpet and headliner are in good nick, as are the door cards, with their eye-catching blue textured upholstery. The cargo area is massive and the reach bench can tumble forward for additional stowage. The side hinged barn doors open for a wide berth for easy loading, as well. Aside from the normal light dash cracks that plague these models, the interior is in good working order and we think the new American owner will agree!
This body-on-frame truck is able to take plenty of abuse, and its simple design lends itself to easy repairs and maintenance. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 1KZ-TE churns to life care of a new 12v battery. With every diesel we recondition, a new fuel filter has been installed and we also replaced the old valve cover gasket with a new one. The 1K is running tip-top, and power is fed through a real-deal five-speed manual. The gearbox lacks any hitches or grinds and it's a blast to row through the gears in such an old school truck. The driver can select between two and four-wheel drive and when the going gets tough, the hubs can be locked, and 4WD-Low can be selected. The platform can handle the rigors of daily use and abuse, and new rear sway bar bushings, new left and right rear trailing arms, and a new front panhard bar bushing improve the feel of the suspension. The power steering is easy to articulate and has been refined with a new steering shock. The brakes feel confident and the black alloy wheels are wrapped in new 33" all terrain rubber. These new tires look killer and will provide tens of thousands of miles of year round grip to come.
