As we have started importing the 90 Series Land Cruiser models with regularity, we have become more and more enamored with them. It's easy to see why, as the model boasts a powerful turbodiesel powerplant, 4WD, and plenty of room for eight! This 1996 TZ is finished in a Desert Dune Metallic over Gray Two-tone (K03). Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the body and paint are in good nick and the Prado is accessorized by a set of OEM raingaurds and a set of five-spoke alloys. Recently serviced and legally imported, this tough rig is offered with 171k verified and documented miles. Equipped with plenty of power options and safety features, this spacious, capable, and efficient truck would make for a wonderful daily driver, family hauler, or weekend trail rig.

The cabin feels more modern than the prior iteration of the Prado because it is. Dual SRS front airbags and power windows, locks, and mirrors are all standard. This example even boasts a large electric retractable sunroof which adds some natural ventilation and daylight to the cockpit. It even has the rare, tinted sunroof visor we hardly ever see. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as this tall Land Cruiser rides far above traffic. The dashboard is in good nick and lacks any cracking or distortion. A factory field monitor keeps an eye on the direction of travel, and there is an inclinometer built-in, too. Centrally mounted automatic climate control pipes boiling hot heat through the cabin and the A/C is on hand for the summer ahead. The audio screen has been damaged and will require a replacement, as you can tell in the pictures. The seats are supportive and upholstered in a gray and charcoal textured pattern. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and are soft to the touch. If you have kids or a few pals looking to ride along, the third-row option has been ticked. Conveniently the rear row folds up into the D-pillar for additional cargo capacity and can be removed completely if desired. Thats not to say the cabin is perfect as there are some light carpet stains, delamination of some of the door card plastics, and the power-folding function is inoperable on the driver's side mirror. Still, at 25 years old it's a bit of nitpicking and this rig was obviously cared for in a prior life. It even includes the Japanese owner's manuals.

The driveline is stout and sturdy and this Land Cruiser is powered by an intercooled 1KZ-TE. The 3.0L is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly thanks to two new 12v batteries. The four-banger breaths freely thanks to a new engine air filter and the 1KZ is connected to a selective transfercase. The full-time 4WD system has a locking center differential for beach driving, and a low-range setting that can be engaged if needed. The automatic gearbox shifts seamlessly and new shifter bushings we installed in our shop. For such a large SUV it accelerates impressively and long highway hauls are comfortable. The long-wheelbase pays dividends as it relates to stability, and the factory suspension cushions those within the cabin against large and small road imperfections alike. The brakes are confident and the power steering is light and on point. The wheels are all wrapped in new all-terrain rubber. The 31" beefy Falken Rubitreks look mean, and will deliver tens of thousands of miles of premium year-round grip to come.
