Toyota's X100 platform consisted of a versatile lineup of comfortable midsize sedans that specialized in all aspects of driving. From the fuel sipping grande to the blisteringly fast Tourer V, there seemed to be a Mark II, Chaser, or Cresta for just about every consumer in the late 1990's. For the day-to-day commuter with an affinity for luxury, this 1996 Chaser 2.5 Avante would check all the boxes. Sporting the fiercely reliable 1JZ-GE under the hood, the Avante touted smooth operation with looks to match. Finished in Toyota's white pearl tricoat, the exterior on this one shows superb, save for some expected light dings, chips, and scuffs that have accrued over time. Factory options such as fog lights and a prominent front parking pole should please even the most discerning Toyota enthusiast and will certainly make this Chaser stand out from the crowd. Boasting 111k verified/documented miles this tasteful Toyota is just getting broken in. Comfortable, efficient, and plenty reliable, these X100 Chasers are a recognizable Japanese Classic that keep getting better with age!

The interior is comfortable, spacious, and packs all the premium materials and amenities you'd expect out of a luxury Toyota. The seats are upholstered in a plush grey cloth. Not only do they feel great during long drives, the fabric has resisted any serious rips, tears, or even major bolster wear over the years. We've even retained the factory lace seat covers, sure to turn plenty a head in your local grocery store parking lot. It's clear this cockpit was well cared for in its Japanese prior life. The dash is clean and in good nick, showing no signs of cracking or peeling, and even houses dual SRS airbags to give you and your passengers some added peace of mind behind the wheel. Additionally, the driver benefits from a tilt and telescoping steering column and 4 way power seating as well. The lower dash is clean and wears a tortoise shell material. With no major gripes to be had with the condition of the center stack, you'll find fully operable digital automatic climate control and an OEM audio system at the ready. The HVAC blows crisp A/C and piping hot heat for those upcoming winter months, and the audio plays clearly throughout the cabin as well. The power features function as you'd expect. Power windows work at the push of a button, and power locks and power mirrors are in good working order to boot, although the power folding feature has seen better days. The rear seats serve up plenty of space for three additional passengers, and trunk space is massive. There's certainly no shortage of utility here in this X100's cabin, and we've even retained the factory carpeted floor mats, owner's manual, and maintenance booklet to further protect your JDM investment.

Under the bonnet, the trusty 1JZ-GE powerplant remains as reliable as ever and is a fantastic fuel sipping alternative to the more grandiose GTE version. Sharing many parts and serviceability with stateside Toyota and Lexus models, these naturally aspirated 6 pots are great mills, and this one is ripe and ready for whatever you throw at it. Our trained technicians have installed a new 12v battery to properly test the alternator and she fires up the first time, every time. An oil and filter service was performed to get it up to date on maintenance, and new valve cover gaskets were buttoned up to seal this one against any unwanted leaks of lubrication. Power wise, the GE has no issues getting up to and maintaining highway speeds, and the automatic gearbox makes for a fine companion, shifting smoothly and effortlessly through the gears. Rear wheel drive power is on the ready, and this humble sedan seems to drive effortlessly through all road conditions. The suspension is pillow-soft and complies nicely with road imperfections, and the power steering is light and easy to maneuver as well. New brake pads and rotors were installed on the front and this X100 is now prepared for any unnecessary highway slowdowns. Last but not least, the stock wheels are wrapped in good Yokohama All Season rubber, knee deep in tread and ready for miles to come!
