JDM vehicles are unique, generally speaking, but this 1996 Land Cruiser is an absolute showstopper. Aside from the incredible styling, these capable and nearly bulletproof turbo diesel rigs were designed to stand the test of time, and are becoming highly collectible here stateside. Built for the Serengeti, yet civil enough to take the whole family out to dinner, this turn-key truck is offered with a mere 126k verified and documented miles. Finished in a new coat of Grasmere Green (2207), this Prado is set off by a matching white roof and refinished OEM alloy wheels, privacy tint, LED tail lamps, factory rainguards, and an OEM spare tire cover. The body and paint are in above-average shape overall, and we wanted to note that the driver's door and front right fender have been replaced at some point in Japan. For the true Toyota enthusiast, this J78 ticks all the important boxes, and would make for a killer daily driver, retro-styled weekend cruiser, or stunning off-road playtoy. Japanese Classics like this are getting harder to find by the day, and this one makes the ultimate automotive statement!

The cabin is more expansive and better equipped than you'd expect from a platform that dates back to the beginning of the Reagan administration. That was because Toyota updated the cabin several times during this model's life, adding options like A/C, electric windows, door locks, and mirrors. These all work in typical Toyota fashion, and the driver even benefits from electric adjustable lumbar support and a tilt-adjustable steering column. The leather seat covers steal the show, and look quite modern and upscale. These pricey coverings protect the material below and look like a million dollars. They lack any major imperfections as do the door cards and headliner. The dashboard normally has a few age-related cracks, but this one has escaped the last twenty-five years relatively unscathed. Two tiny chips can be found atop it, but it's in good shape otherwise. A Pioneer touchscreen sits front and center, works as it should, and adds some tunes to supplement the turbodiesel soundtrack. A Nardi woodgrain steering wheel adds some contrast to the passenger cell, and an OEM Toyota air purifier and dome light sit overhead. Even the owner's manuals and OEM carpet mats are included in the sale for the next owner to enjoy.

The body-on-frame platform is simple and robust, and this J78 boasts a long wheelbase making interstate driving more predictable than the two-door versions. Powered by the punchy and efficient 1KZ-TE, this sizable SUV produces tons of low-end grunt and is capable of driving at sustained highway speeds with ease. The 3.0L starts up with the twist of the key, care of two new 12v batteries, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. A professionally rebuilt ECU with transferable lifetime warranty ensures the powertrain operates like a well-oiled machine. To keep her topped up on oil, the old weary valve cover gasket was replaced by a brand new one. The four-banger idles with confidence and is linked to a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. The selective transfer case allows the driver to choose between 2WD and 4WD depending on their preference. If sand or snow stands in your way feel free to engage the low-range 4WD and lock the hubs! A 2" lift adds some ground clearance and the suspesion able to power over rough roads with ease. Power steering is standard, and it's easy to maneuver this big truck around parking garages and tight city streets. The brakes have been improved care of a new set of front pads installed by one of our trained techs. Lastly, the OEM alloys were wrapped in new 33" Falken rubber at all four corners. The new rubber looks mean but most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and deliver all the grip required!
