The EK Civic is such a lovable little hatchback. The fun styling, durable and efficient drivetrain, and well-equipped cabin leave little to be desired when compared to other compact cars of the time. Finished in an eye-catching Milano Red (R-81) the paint is in good shape aside from some minor dings and chips associated with normal use. Set off by a set of 16" ROH alloys, OEM rainguards, and mid-rise spoiler this Honda looks incredibly sharp! Boasting a mere 54k verified and documented miles, this baby is just barely broken in, and our shop has taken care of plenty of expensive preventative maintenance items to save the next owner some cash! Collectible, inexpensive to maintain, and unique, this 1996 VTi Civic is a killer little ride and a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is in above average shape overall and was cared for in Japan. Impressively the Civic is equipped with dual front SRS airbags which were uncommon during this era. The dash itself is in good nick and lacks any cracking or distortion, and the view of the road ahead is clean and unobstructed. The center stack includes controls for the automatic climate control system and an aftermarket headunit. While the audio no longer functions, the A/C and heat do, making daily use enjoyable. Electric windows, locks, and mirrors all work aside from the driver's side power-folding function. They also complement the adjustable steering column and power steering which are must-haves. The seats, which are trimmed in a soft multicolored cloth, steal the show. They are soft to the touch and lack any major rips, stains, or tears, and are in above-average shape overall. The same material is found in the door cards which look equally good. Faux carbon trim can be found in the door handles and jazzes up the interior a touch. An upgraded shift knob matches, too. The headliner and carpets have resisted major abuse over the years and we are including the hard-to-find OEM carpet mats for the next owner. Even the original owner's manuals and maintenance booklets can be found inside the glovebox, and the security shade is still in place, whereas they often go missing. It's really hard to complain about the cabin and this one really shines, in our opinion.

Honda is known for designing some of the longest-lasting, most durable, and efficient powertrains in the business. This Civic is no exception and is powered by the reliable D15B VTEC. Fresh off a recent oil and filter service the four-banger starts promptly thanks to a new 12v battery. It idles with confidence and breathes freely thanks to a new engine air filter installed in our shop. Enthusiasts will take great reassurance in knowing that a new timing belt and water pump were installed, and will be good for another six years or 100,000 kilometers. It also saves some money for the next owner which is never a bad thing. Power is sent to the front wheels through a CVT gearbox, which we have also serviced the unit with Honda-specific CVT fluid to ensure it functions properly. The sport and economy modes are nice to have on hand and change the transmission programming accordingly. The featherlight curb weight is ideal for the little D series, and acceleration is peppy. The Civic is happy to run down the highway for sustained periods and is even better darting around tight city streets. The factory suspension can handle the rigors of daily use and abuse, and delivers plenty of ground clearance. We have given it a refresh with a new set of trailing arm bushings and she now drives with confidence, feeling predictable and composed. The brakes work well and the tires are all new Falken's installed here in the shop. They will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and quiet down the ride nicely.
