The Honda Civic was one of the best-built cars of the 1990s. A huge revision to the core model came in the form of the EK; it's the sixth iteration and boy was it was a good one. Made to be more refined, efficient, and fun this 1996 is offered for sale with a mere 75K verified miles. Finished in a classy Granada Black Pearl (NH-503P) and accented by a set of understated rain guards and privacy tint. The body is in good shape aside from the normal dings and chips. Powered by a peppy D15B, this legally imported and recently serviced hatch drives impressively and is highly collectible. Don't miss out on this Japanse Classic, as it would make for an ideal daily driver, or as an unmolested platform to modify for a weekend cruiser!

The interior is in above average shape for a vehicle of its age and it has been obviously cared for in Japan. Despite its small exterior decisions, the cabin feels open and airy. The dash is designed with clean, simple lines and lacks any major imperfections. The center stack is simple and features functional automatic climate control with cold A/C. Power windows, locks, and mirrors all work, although the passenger side unit no longer power folds. The OEM audio system is still there as well. It works okay but the volume adjustment no longer works. The level is set in the middle currently and a replacement should be inexpensive and generally necessary since the Japanese use different FM bandwidth than we do here stateside. The seats are in wonderful nick and upholstered in a soft gray, blue, and red cloth. They are quite comfortable on long trips and offer decent support. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The headliner is clean, and the door cards are properly upholstered and lack any major damage. The carpets look decent for a car of this age and the rear security shade is still present.

The mechanicals were the EK's secret to success. Arguably, Honda was building the most impressive and reliable drivetrains of any brand in the world at this time, and this one is a prime example of a model that built to last. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the D15B fires up quickly with a twist of the key. A new 12V battery was installed as well and should last for the next four years at least. The little four-banger idles confidently and is connected to an automatic gearbox. The Civic includes selective transmission control modes and setting for sport and economy. Acceleration can be described as peppy while the transmission shifts properly without any hesitation or clunking. The suspension insulates from the road much better than you'd expect and the cabin displays very few squeaks and rattles. The braking capabilities are impressive in stock form and the steering is tight and power-assisted. The OEM steelies are wrapped in a new all-season rubber at all four corners. The new tires quiet down the ride nicely and should provide plenty of year-round grip for tens of thousands of miles to come.
