Proper luxury sedans like this '94 Toyota Celsior are some of the most prized exports out of Japan. The island itself is small and public transportation is inexpensive, which makes examples like this one a real gem. While the cluster reads 13K miles it was not able to be verified prior to leaving Japan and the vehicle is being sold as unknown miles. Typically with these, since they're digital, it's due to the cluster going out at some point and being replaced with a new one, but we don't know when that may have occurred. The average American puts around 13K miles a year on their vehicle just to put things into perspective. The color choice on this one is particularly interesting as they went with the Dark Blue Mica (8J5) which we don't see very often. The paint itself shows well though there will always be slight blemishes like stone chips and some clear coat etching on anything 27 years old regardless of the mileage. The body is in the same shape with only your typical door ding or two. With its generous appointments, silky powertrain, and even smoother ride there's no wonder why these have reached such iconic levels.

The cabin is filled with power equipment and quality materials. An electric steering column, power-folding mirrors, windows, and locks work as they should and make day-to-day life more enjoyable. The same can be said about the power front seats that even have electric seatbelt adjusters standard. The matching greyish/blue cloth makes for an interesting color combo you don't see often these days. The cloth is in great shape for its age with no real blemishes to note. The seats are superbly comfortable for long road trips which is where the Celsior really shines. Even the back seats are plenty comfortable for grown adults to fit unlike half of the sedans from this era. The dash and door cards are just as clean with no signs of sun damage or delamination. The driver also benefits from an SRS airbag which was still an option at the time so we don't see them too often. The black and white backlit gauges look futuristic with wood grain that lines the center stack and armrests to break up the color scheme. The digital climate system is easy to read, and simple to use, working effectively in both summer and winter. The A/C is working great since we know that those scorching summer days are just around the corner. The OEM audio suite works properly and the levels of noise, vibration, and harshness in the cabin are nearly non-existent.

Mechanically this Celsior is just as clean as the rest of the car. Power comes compliments of the silky-smooth 4 Liter V8 (1UZ-FE.) The V8 fires right up thanks to a new battery and idles as quietly as you would anticipate any proper luxury sedan to. For being a V8 it's shocking just how quiet and little vibration it puts out. If you find yourself bored look up the infamous Champagne Glass commercial on YouTube to attest to this. The power delivery is smooth and with more than enough power to get you around cars blocking up the passing lane. The Type-B has a traditional spring setup with adjustable dampers controlled by Toyota's "TEMS" system which is a clever setup. You have the ability to firm up the suspension when necessary without having the hassle of the air suspension which is prone to leaking over time. While most of our customers are simply looking for a killer new daily, we do have some out looking for their next VIP build chassis. For those enthusiasts, this setup is much easier to convert to coilovers or a fully adjustable air setup. The automatic transmission is equally quiet; shifting in and out of gear without any hesitation or grinding. Fresh rubber also helps with the ride quality while the 16" Weds Leonis almost look as if they were a factory option. As you can spot in the photos the faces have seen better days but that doesn't have any impact on them aside from aesthetics. The power steering system makes these big sedans feel surprisingly light on their feet so tight parking spots are a breeze. The Celsior came in needing generally little work; we did notice a slight trans leak so we went ahead and resealed the trans pan along with replacing the left rear wheel bearing. Toyota really outdid themselves with the UCF platform. A proven track record, packed full of luxury amenities, and a look that never goes out of style.
