Stock #5946
Stock #5946We've long championed Toyota's 3rd generation Hilux Surf for offering up an incomparable blend of looks, features, and easy to service mechanicals. This 1996 SSR-X is a fine example of what makes the chassis so great, and with 76k verified/documented miles on the clock we think it's a pretty smart buy for the road ahead as well. Finished in a one-off Kraken black and set off by OEM rainguards, a 2" lift, smoked tail lamps, and a sleek graphics package, this one has a lot to boast about as the interior shows no major defects outside of some expected rock chips, dings, and evidence of previously mounted fender flare extensions. Aftermarket 16" alloys pair nicely with a meaty set of 33" all terrain rubber to give this one the bad boy aesthetic off roaders yearn for. With a trusty gas four banger under the hood, this one is a prime candidate for your next Japanese Classic daily driver, weekend trail crawler, or overland machine!Much like the exterior, the interior follows the same ethos of being capable, comfortable, and easy to navigate for whoever's in the cockpit. The seats are trimmed in a durable bluish grey cloth with corduroy-like accents. The materials have withstood the past 25 years on the road with no major defects, and the remaining upholstery shows well, from the complementary inserts in the door panels to the headliner above. The dash is in equally good shape and even houses dual SRS airbags so you and your passenger can benefit from a bit of peace of mind on the road. The dash materials have resisted any serious UV damage or unwanted cracks and the factory automatic climate control system still works like a charm, delivering cold A/C or hot heat at a moments notice. Positioned directly below the HVAC is functional Panasonic audio, ideal for soundtracking a longer road trip. Power windows work like a charm, as do power mirrors, and door locks. Your rear passengers and furry friends additionally benefit from a power retractable rear window to maximize the flow of ventilation throughout the cabin. Sought after by enthusiasts, the factory field monitor is operable and displays a full slate of environmental conditions. The rear bench can recline slightly for added comfort and the seats can tuck away against the front if you need to maximize utility in the rear. Overall this cabin is a swell place to be. If you can see past a couple of stains here and there, an inoperable moonroof, and some peeling around the glovebox it should suit the next owner well for the road ahead. We've even retained the original owner's manual for safekeeping!Under the hood, the 3RZ-FE stands tall and most stateside enthusiasts will instantly recognize this one as the same durable four banger seen in our US offerings. This 2.7l is fresh off a recent service in house and was given a fresh oil and filter service to get you on track for the next maintenance cycle. We also installed a new o-ring on the distributor to stop any pesky leaks as well. This inline 4 cranks right over, care of a new 12v battery, and operation is smooth and contaminant free thanks to a freshly installed engine air filter and fuel filter. This one zips around town with ease and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly up and down all four gears. Additionally, a selective transfercase can easily engage 4WD with low gearing in hand if you want to hit the beach this summer. The lifted suspension is plenty compliant over road imperfections and feels noticeably more capable over stock. The power steering is light and makes parking this prominent rig a breeze, and the ABS brakes bite hard if an abrupt stop is needed. Lastly, we wrapped the alloys in brand new Falken rubber. Not only do the 33's look menacing, they'll deliver plenty of grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
