Toyota's Hilux is a nameplate that's become synonymous with capability and steadfast durability over the years. Thanks to numerous wear tests and battle-hardened experience in the field. It's safe to say the Hilux is a bulletproof vehicle, and examples like our 1996 LN108 work to help keep the legend alive stateside. Finished in Toyota's Dark Blue Pearl (8E3), the exterior on this example is no worse for the wear for a 25-year-old vehicle. Showing some expected paint fade, light dents, chips, and scratches from its prior life, the exterior shows well overall, and is accentuated by Factory rainguards and a fancy OEM style bar in the rear. Set off by a rugged set of SSR Auswuch 16" alloys, this LN108 is a quintessential example of Japan's most storied pickup, and with only 86k verified miles on the clock this classic Toyota is just getting broken in. Iconic styling, turbo diesel power, and enough power equipment to make daily driving a breeze, what's not to love about this Japanese Classic pickup?

The interior is rather utilitarian in design, but still packs the comfort, space, and amenities necessary to make for a great truck. The timeless tweed upholstery is a perfect fit, and the seats show no visible defects outside of some very minor driver's side bolster wear. The rest of the materials show well, from the headliner to the door cards, and for a rugged truck there's not much to be concerned about aside from some light fading and peeling on the lower dash trim. Replacing the dated factory steering wheel is a sleek Nardi unit, the wood feels great in the one's hands, and provides for a slightly more luxurious driving experience. The center stack houses a more modern touch screen Kenwood audio upgrade, with MP3 functionality, and the door speakers have been refreshed as well for stateside audiophiles to jam out on their morning commute. A fully functional climate control unit is on hand and ready to blast hot heat to help power through these winter months. For those in sun soaked climates, cold A/C is freshly charged and on hand when needed. Despite being a classic design, this pickup still features power windows, mirrors, and power door locks to make the daily driving experience a bit easier. The windows roll down with no issue, but for those seeking an open air driving experience the manual moonroof can be tilted up and the rear glass unfurled to allow some more natural ventilation to flow throughout the cabin. These double cab utes are fantastic for hauling around the whole family, and the rear offers up plenty of head and legroom for three additional passengers. Overall, there's not much to scrutinize about this cabin. Any noted wear is typical for the age and we've even retained the factory owner's manual and maintenance booklet to further protect the history of this classic truck!

Compared to the heavily publicized and beloved 3L diesel typically seen in this chassis, the 2L-TE offers a turbocharged punch while still maintaining Toyota's well known reliability and ease of service. This one is fresh off a recent service by our trained technicians and fires up swiftly with the twist of a key, thanks to 2 new 12v batteries, which were also installed to properly test the alternator. The diesel chugs along happily at idle, and a fresh oil and filter service and valve cover gasket was also performed to get this 2.4l four banger up to date on maintenance. We've also installed a fresh fuel filter and this trusty 2.4L doesn't skip a beat! Acceleration is overall much more impressive than this Hilux's predecessor, and this durable double cab has no issues getting up to and maintaining highway speeds. Shifts are smooth through the automatic transmission and a selectable transfer case is at the ready, offering 4WD and low gearing for those who choose to traverse off the beaten path. She stops on a dime, thanks to a replacement of the front brake pads, and the suspension has held up quite well over the years, soaking up road imperfections large and small without making a racket! Lastly, we've wrapped all four wheels in fresh Falken A/T rubber. For a daily driver, trail crawler, or dedicated utility vehicle, there's no truck that can do it better than the Toyota Hilux.
