The L400 Delica is one of the most distinctive, capable, and useful vans on the planet. This 1996 is an absolute neck breaker, with its one-off Monaco Blue bedlined exterior and 15" BERG alloys shod in 31" Falken tires. Accessorized by an OEM bashbar and color matched side steps, this rig is fully set up!  Boasting an easy-to-service four-cylinder engine that was sold here in the States, and surefooted 4WD, this recently serviced rig is turn-key ready to rock. Having logged only 81k verified and documented miles, this hauler is barely broken in! Ideal for a weekend of overlanding, running to the supermarket with the kids, or as an eye-catching daily driver, this Delica would be well suited. Reliable, tough, and collectible, these year-round transporters are certified Japanese Classics!

The cabin is spacious, ergonomic, and incudes a number of power accessories. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. A factory field monitor mounted front and center displays vehicle information and the outside conditions to those who may be curious. Upon entry, the driver is greeted with a tilt-adjustable steering column and power windows, door locks, and electric mirrors make daily use much more enjoyable. The automatic climate controls are located at the top of the center stack, within arm's reach. The system is intuitive to use and supplies A/C and heat to the front and rear occupants, who benefit from their own controls. The OEM audio is simple to operate, and works like a charm to supply radio to your commute. The upholstery is a durable gray cloth. It lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The front captain's chairs include adjustable armrests and the middle seats swivel 180 degrees to face rearward. Additionally, a third row can be deployed from the D-pillars is more seating is required. The headliner and carpets have also faired well over the years lacking any major imperfections. Aside from some scuffs and sun fading on the interior plastics, its hard to complain about the cabin, and it was obviously cared for overseas in Japan.

For those who may be motivated by ease of service and low cost of ownership, this Mitsu is powered by the same 4G64 engine that appeared in countless US vehicles during this time. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the fuel-injected mill churns to life care of a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of the powerplant, and we also replaced the accessory belts to keep the onboard electronics properly powered. One of our trained techs further refreshed the 2.4L by taking care of the costly and time-consuming timing belt and water pump. These items will be good for another 100,000 kms and we also replaced the front main seal and valve cover gaskets while we were in there. Linked to a stout automatic gearbox, the Delica is peppy about town and can drive on the highway for sustained periods, and feels plenty comfortable. The gearbox did have a leak from the shift selector that we addressed while it was up on the lift and the SuperSelect 4WD system can be operated on the fly, at speeds up to 62mph. A locking center differential and low range can also be engaged if some off-roading is on the agenda. The driveline was improved with a new rear pinion seal and we also replaced the rear shocks with new ones. The power steering is light yet on point and the brakes were improved with new rear pads and feel confident. Lastly, we mounted and balanced 31" All-Terrain tires at all four corners. The new rubber quiets down the road noise and will provide all the all-weather grip necessary for tens of thousands of miles to come.
