This 1995 HDJ81 is a special truck for a bevy of reasons. It features the updated 4.2L turbodiesel 1HD-FT and a slew of upgrades enhancing this rig's appeal. Finished in a Dark Emerald over Moonglow Pearl two-tone (2AC) the Land Cruiser is adorned with OEM rainguards and a brutish-looking OEM brushguard and integrated Bosch fog lights. Aside from some dings, chips, scuffs, and scrapes associated with normal use the body and paint are in fine shape. The spacious cabin only adds to the appeal and provides plenty of power equipment to make the driving experience even more enjoyable. If that's not nice enough, this turn-key VX Limited is offered with a mere 69k verified and documented miles. As a daily driver, weekend warrior, or big bad beach cruiser this tremendous Toyota will surely fit the bill. Collectible, capable, and efficient this fabulous Land Cruiser won't stay around long and is a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is massive, simply put. With room for five full adults and all their gear, this 80 is ideal for a road trip. When entering the cabin your eyes are immediately drawn to the Tesla-like Alpine headunit. In combination with the Pioneer subwoofer, this Land Cruiser can belt out the tunes with the best of them. The driver has a premium view of the road ahead and the dashboard lacks any cracking or distortion. A tilt-adjustable steering column, electric driver's lumbar support, electric windows, locks, and mirrors are all on hand and work as advertised aside from the power-folding function of the side mirrors. The gray Alcantara upholstery is soft to the touch and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. It does have automatic climate control, which blows cold after a recharge but there is a small leak that will eventually cause it to blow warm. The headliner, door cards, and carpets are in fine shape and haven't sustained any major abuse.

The 95 and newer diesel 80s come with a revised 4.2L turbodiesel. Two additional valves per cylinder were added and a few other improvements to make the engine more powerful and efficient. Fresh off an oil and filter service the straight-six whirrs to life with hardly a vibration and comes with a new set of serpentine belts. Power is fed through a slick-shifting automatic gearbox and sent to all four wheels through a full-time 4WD system. One of our trained techs resealed the transmission pan to keep the unit topped up on ATF. It gets up and moves impressively and sustained highway driving is comfortable. It handles large and small road imperfections with ease and gobbles up potholes for dinner. We rebuilt the front hubs to shore up the driveline and she drives like a dream. The brakes are confident thanks to new front pads and the OEM wheels are wrapped in new 33" Falken all terrains. We even did the spare, and the new rubber not only looks great but it will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
