1995 Toyota Hilux SSR-X Diesel
Stock Number: 4727
The Toyota Hilux is a revered nameplate for Toyota, and it's easy to understand why based on the overall reliability and ruggedness of these trucks. Our latest 1995 is offered with a mere 95K verified miles. Finished in a striking Aztec Blue (23W) the body is in good shape other than some minor dings and chips associated with normal use. Powered by one of Toyota's most bulletproof diesel engines, the 1KZ-TE, this 4x4 has plenty of grunt and is surprisingly efficient. The comfy cabin is in good condition as well, with plenty of space and some surprising power amenities. Legally imported and recently serviced, this SSR-X is just as capable of hauling the kids to soccer practice as it is crossing the Moab!
The cabin is clean, simple, and benefits from a few upgrades. For starters, a Kenwood head unit with auxiliary inputs replaces the dated factory unit with decent audio quality. Directly above it, on the dash, are a set of cupholders and the Hilux's automatic climate control system. The A/C works currently as does the heat, and the driver does have power roll downs windows if they prefer more natural ventilation. In addition to those, a power-retractable sunroof works properly and OEM rain guards reduce the in-cabin wind noise with the windows rolled down. The power windows and locks work as they should and an adjustable steering column is also standard. The seats are all in great shape, upholstered in a blue and gray cloth. Lacking any major rips, stains, or tears, they are soft to the touch and comfy on long drives. The rears can fold forward to accommodate more cargo as well. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have also been kept up well, and look good for a vehicle of this age. That's not to say it's perfect as the dash does have some cracking and there is a broken plastic trim piece on the sunroof. Still, it's easy to see that the prior owners really cared for this truck back in Japan.
The mechanicals are simple in contrast to today's computerized soft-roaders. The body on frame platform houses a tried and true automatic gearbox mated to the aforementioned 3.0L four-banger. Fresh off an oil and filter service she starts up promptly thanks to two new 12V batteries installed by one of our trained technicians. The engine oil and filter have also been taken care of and the next service is three-thousand miles down the road. This midsize rig is impressively quick in terms of acceleration and it sails up to highways speeds with ease. The transmission shifts properly and is longer geared than the manual if you plan to commute in this thing. The selective transfer case is nice to have, and the driver can toggle between 2WD and 4WD while in the cabin. The power steering is light and the brakes feel confident. Ride quality isn't half bad for a truck and the Hilux feels confident even at higher speeds. The alloy wheels, including the spare, have been wrapped in 31" all-season Falken rolling stock. They can handle rains, sleet, sand, and snow if you happen to encounter some nasty weather.
