Despite its average exterior dimensions, this HiAce features a spacious cockpit filled with premium materials, flexible seating options and loads of factory options.

Exterior Overview

If you have cargo needs, or friends and family to shuttle, this 1995 HiAce is the ticket. Despite its average exterior dimensions, this van features a spacious cockpit filled with premium materials, flexible seating options, and loads of factory options. Even better, this efficient diesel-powered hauler is fresh off a recent service and boasts only 49k verified and documented miles on the clock. Aside from a few light scuffs, dings, and chips the Super White over Flaxen Mica (2BH) paint is in good nick. Perfect as a unique daily driver, competent kid hauler, or useful campsite companion, this Japanese Classic always gets the job done in style. Refined, reliable, and most certainly cool, this frugal rear-driver won’t be available for long!

Interior Overview

The cabover design makes for a wonderful cockpit layout. The driver and passenger ride atop the front axle and the view of the road ahead is as clear as any vehicle we sell. You also slide into the van instead of climbing up or having to hunker down. The driver benefits from a tilt adjustable steering column and working power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows make daily use more enjoyable. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and is in good shape, aside from some separation around the defrost vents. The center stack is close by and includes a JVC audio upgrade within arm’s reach. The headunit functions well as does the digital dual zone automatic climate control system located adjacent. The A/C blows cold and the heat gets nice and toasty. Rear occupants have their own controls, too. The tan upholstery is in good shape and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can be swiveled 180 degrees to face the rear, and all three rows combine to form a flat sleeping surface, which is way quicker than trying to deploy a tent at the campsite. The massive panoramic roof powers back exposing a view of the heavens above. The front and rear units also tilt, adding a nice breeze to your drive. The headliner is in good shape as are the door cards, and the carpets have withstood the past twenty-five years without sustaining major abuse. The sliding side door allows for easy access to the rear row and the door soft closes to prevent your battery from draining. Even the owners manuals are included with the purchase of this van, as well as the factory carpeted floor liners, and we think the next owner will be more than pleased with its condition.

Mechanical Overview

The midship engine design pays tons of dividends. The weight is low in the chassis and centered, which allows this van to handle much better than you might expect. The turn radius is tight, and the soft suspension insulates the cabin from the road. Power comes from one of Toyota best engines, the turbodiesel 1KZ-TE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L churns to life care of a new 12v battery. A new intake air filter and new fuel filter keep the 1K running tip-top and we performed a coolant flush for good measure. So the 1K stays topped up on lubricant, one of our trained techs has replaced the valve cover gasket and half moon seal, saving the next owner from having to do any preventative maintenance. The 3.0TD delivers power in droves, with a substantial low-end grunt to assist stoplight takeoffs, and power is fed through a smooth shifting automatic gearbox. It’s also balanced on the highway for its design, and the suspension is comfortable even over larger road imperfections. The brakes feel confident, and the power steering is light and on point. For state inspection, we replaced the front and rear sway bar bushings with new ones, aiding stability. The Dunlop tires are knee deep in tread and will last for a good long while to come. Turn the key and go, this van is retail-ready to rock!
