Looking back on the humble beginnings of the Subaru Impreza WRX STi, it's easy to see why this compact rally-inspired sedan has kept such a solidified spot in the hearts of die-hard enthusiasts. The GC8 model was everything a rally car should be. Lightweight, tossable, and dangerously quick, these AWD rockets proved to be nearly unstoppable on and off the tarmac, and luckily the Japanese market has provided plenty of clean examples for us to drive and enjoy today. Take for instance this 1995 model. With a scant 121k verified and documented miles on the clock, this WRX is barely broken in! Finished in Subaru's Light Silver Metallic (406), the exterior shows nicely and is offset by some choice OEM extras. Factory side skirts complement the smooth body lines, and the rear end bears an appropriate mid-rise spoiler. While the body looks great, we must note a replacement of the front left fender and trunk lid but nonetheless, the photos speak for themselves and the repair was clearly well done. Finished off with a set of factory 16" gold alloys this sedan looks rally-ready, and is fresh off a recent service by our trained technicians. Whether it's dirt, gravel, or snow, this Japanese Classic is ready to go!

The interior is in stellar shape for its age, and is just as clean and subtly modified as the exterior! Opening the door, your attention is immediately drawn to the sport-designed bucket seats, trimmed in black cloth with grey alcantara inserts. The upholstery shows well, with no serious defects to be had outside of a notable tear on the driver's side upper bolster. The dash is clean and devoid of any unwanted cracks, peeling, or even UV damage, and the lower trim shows nicely as well! Factory Addzest audio is functional, but we prefer to keep the volume knob down to hear more of that signature Subaru rumble. Below the head unit, a triple LAMCO gauge suite is functional and displays some choice parameters to help monitor your engine vitals. An automatic climate control unit completes the center stack blowing cold A/C and hot heat at the turn of a dial. This classic cabin is blessed with a touch of modernity thanks to power windows, locks, and power-folding mirrors. These all work as advertised making daily use more enjoyable. Despite its compact appearance, the WRX has plenty of room for passengers in the rear, and the trunk space is nothing to scoff at either. Overall the interior is clean and hospitable for any pilots or passengers. We've even retained the OEM carpeted floor mats and factory literature to preserve the history of this classic Impreza!

Under the hood, Subaru's classic WRX formula strikes again. Power is delivered care of a robust turbocharged boxer four, and these early EJ's still share a good amount of parts with later model Subies, making servicing a cinch! The EJ20G engine fires up quickly, care of a new 12v battery, and the motor emits a refined burble at idle. As expected, this Impreza has equal amounts of show and go, and a laundry list of maintenance has been performed in-house to give you turn-key fun as soon as you fasten your seatbelt! A new fuel filter handles any unforeseen future fueling issues, and this car is a hoot to drive from light to light. A close-ratio 5-speed manual gearbox is the perfect pairing for this rally-inspired drivetrain, with new shifter bushings and a new left side axle seal on the rear differential ensures flawless operation for the road ahead. The factory suspension is more than adequate for soaking up road imperfections, and it can also boogie down in those backroad twists and turns as well. We've replaced both inner and outer tie rods and the front to shore up the suspension and handling is on point. The brakes bite hard, and new front pads and rotors will keep this sedan stopping confidently! Lastly, we've mounted and balanced four new Falken tires. Not only do they keep the road noise down, but they'll deliver plenty of on and off-road grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!
