Many Stateside enthusiasts fawn over the Impreza STi hatchback without knowing the Japanese market had exclusive access since day one! Our 1995 GF8 WRX STi is a certified head turner to those in the know, and has accumulated a respectable 135k verified and documented miles over the years. Finished in Light Silver Metallic (406), and set off by OEM rear and mid spoilers, optional rear bumper spats, and subtle privacy tint, this wagon shows only a few paint chips, dings, and spots of clearcoat fade from day to day use. We also wanted to note that the hood was replaced in Japan at some point too. The Enkei Livolno alloys are a snazzy period correct complement to the exterior, and this rally wagon is fresh off a recent service to sweeten the deal even more. Legendary in the dirt, rain, and snow, this sporty wagon is a unique Japanese Classic and a true hot commodity!
The interior is simple, comfortable, and well designed. A set of late model WRX buckets help modernize the aesthetic, and are highly supportive. The soft-touch materials are in good nick overall, from the dash to the door cards. The center stack is easy to navigate and the automatic climate control system works like a charm, with three analog dials selecting cold A/C and hot heat on a whim. We typically champion the classic Impreza for having a utilitarian interior layout with only the essential power amenities. This wagon is no different, and features power windows, locks, and power folding mirrors for your daily driving pleasure. The rear bench can comfortably stuff in three additional passengers if need be, and the seats can fold flat for your snowboards and skis to fit snugly. Of course, with a 25 year old cockpit there's bound to be a few defects. The audio is missing, and there's a few holes atop the HVAC trim, but overall that does little to take away from this special STi. We've even retained the owner's manuals and factory rear cargo shade!
Under the hood, the STi tuned EJ20G is on full display. Not only does this platform share a fair amount of parts with later USDM WRX and STi models, but this one was recently serviced in house and runs like a top! The engine cranks over swiftly, care of a new 12v battery, and idles confidently. A fresh oil and filter service ensures you won't lose a drop of lubrication, and we went ahead and replaced the rear main seal and oil separator plate to keep your undercarriage bone dry. A full header-back aftermarket exhaust sounds great, with a FGK muffler keeping the boxer rumble at bay, and an Apex'i intake emits a symphony of whooshes and chirps. With the maintenance performed, this wagon rockets from light to light and really feels at home in the backroad twisties, thanks to a close-ratio 5 speed manual gearbox. The suspension feels planted overall when tossing the chassis about although a few squeaks and rattles are present due to the aftermarket top mounts. Cusco sway bars, a front member brace, and front and rear strut tower braces also do a lot to aid handling. The power steering is direct and light for day to day driving, and we've even mounted and balanced new Falken rubber at all four corners to deliver plenty of grip for wherever this GF8 takes you.
