The J78 Land Cruisers are more than just a handsome SUV, they are capable and reliable. It's easy to see why you would want one over a G-Wagen and they can be found at a fraction of the price. Our 1995 Prado SX is an ideal vehicle to use year-round, with its spacious accommodation, trusty 4WD, and punchy turbodiesel engine. Refinished in Japan at some point in a one-off Piano Black, the paint is in fair shape aside from some scuffs, dings, and chips associated with normal use. Offered with only 137k verified and documented miles, this torque monster of a Toyota is barely broken in, and fresh off a recent service. For those looking for a practical, determined, and stylish ute, look no further than this special Japanese Classic.

This tall truck rides far above traffic giving the driver a premium view of the road ahead. There is tons of head and shoulder room for those up front and all the controls are at hand for the driver is even equipped with an adjustable steering column to find the perfect driving position. These include power windows, locks, and mirrors, which all work as they should. The amenities don't stop there, as the options for the electric sunroof and driver's power lumbar support were ticked. These additional upgrades make daily use way more enjoyable. A Clarion audio upgrade makes the center stack look more modern. It works like a charm and compliments the simple climate controls. Another upgrade is the Abart wood grain steering wheel which contrasts against the dash nicely. The tan cloth interior is in the above-average nick. It does have a few minor holes on the driver's seat bottom but there is no other major damage such as rips, stains, or tears. The carpets, headliner, and door cards have also resisted major abuse over the years and are in reasonably good shape. That's not to say the cabin is perfect as there are a few minor cracks in the dash and some broken climate vents to note. Still, at 25 years old, the condition is remarkable and it was obviously cared for in a prior life. Even the factory carpet mats are still on hand!

Under the skin, the Land Cruiser is a simple but sturdy design. As a body-on-frame rig, it can handle its fair share of use and abuse and keep on marching forward. Powered by the 1KZ-TE, this truck gets up and moves quickly when you need it to. The 3.0L starts up promptly thanks to two new 12v batteries we installed stateside. These should last for a few more years to come, even through the coldest of winter snaps. While up on the lift one of our trained techs installed a new valve cover gasket to keep the four-banger topped up on oil and she runs like a champ. Power is sent through a smooth shifting automatic gearbox and then through a selective transfer case. If you want to attack a few trails and get dirty, 4WD low can be engaged and you can even lock the hubs from inside the cockpit. If you plan to stay on the tarmac that's just fine and the long wheelbase is great for highway stability. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light, allowing for ease of parking. The refinished alloys are all wrapped in new Falken all-terrain rubber. The new tires look killer and most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and we also performed an alignment to maximize tire life.
