Featuring Rambo-esque styling, a stout drivetrain, and a sturdy body on frame design that won't go down without a fight, it's no wonder Toyota's 70 series is becoming so popular with overlanders, outdoorsmen, and the vintage crowd. Our 95 Prado SX is the bee's knees, and boasts an impressive 137k verified and documented miles on the clock. Finished in a one-off Cosmic Black, the exterior looks the part, and is accented by OEM rainguards, LED Tail Lamps, privacy tint, and a slick set of 16" Bradley three-piece alloys. A future collectible that never loses its appeal, this Japanese Classic is a heck of a deal!
For such a classic vehicle, the interior still holds its own against our more modern offerings. Fortunately, Toyota was outfitting their lineup with premium materials at the time, and the upholstery on the seats has withstood the past 25 years without falling victim to too many defects. Additionally, the dash is in good shape, resisting most of the hairline cracking and peeling commonly seen on these models. Still it's no worse for the wear, and the remaining materials show well from the taut fabric on the headliner to the plush shag carpet underneath. Readily accessible, the factory climate control unit is easy to operate, and cold A/C can easily be switched on at a moment's notice. Positioned above, Alpine audio is operational and the sound quality is decent to boot! The driver benefits from a smooth and sleek Nardi steering wheel affixed to a tilt adjustable steering column, and power lumbar support makes longer trips a bit more bearable. The middle row seats three additional passengers with ease, and it can be stowed forward if extra cargo space is required in the rear. Power windows, locks, and door mirrors add a bit of accessibility all around and work as advertised. Overall, the cockpit is a fine place to be for whoever pilots this rig, and based on the condition it's clear this one was well cared for in a prior life.
There's a reason we call the 1KZ-TE our favorite truck motor here at the dealership. This torquey turbodiesel seems to get it done in just about every scenario, and ours cranks over swiftly with the assistance of a new 12v battery installed here in house. A freshly installed engine air filter and fuel filter give this one a bit of a tune-up while also maximizing power and fuel economy, and we replaced the alternator to ensure the new battery charges as intended. With the maintenance performed, this one has sufficient grunt to get up to highway speeds, and the automatic transmission gets you there without lifting a finger. Selectable 4WD is on tap should you choose to traverse the trails, and a desirable rear locker can be deployed to maximize capability on loose surfaces. The suspension is surprisingly responsive and compliant over large and small road imperfections, and the brakes do a fine job at slowing this brutish beast if you need to come to an abrupt halt. Further aiding grip and stopping power, our newly installed Falken A/T rubber pays dividends in almost every driving situation, and a fresh alignment was performed to ensure you get the most out of the new tires!
