Easy on the eyes, fun on the trails, and a delightful daily driver to have in the stable, there's a lot to love about the N130!

Exterior Overview

We sell a lot of great Toyota trucks here at Japanese Classics. While the 3rd generation Hilux Surf is by far our best selling model, the true enthusiast typically leans more towards models like the second generation N130, as they have more of a trucklike character. They’re also getting exceedingly rare, especially with an incredibly low 55k verified and documented miles, like our 1995! Finished in Dark Blue Pearl (B72-P) the exterior is showstopping, and an optional rear tire swingarm is both desirable and functional. Save for some typical age-related paint imperfections, the cosmetics are in good nick and a set of eye-catching refinished OEM alloys steal the show. Easy on the eyes, fun on the trails, and a delightful daily driver to have in the stable, there’s a lot to love about the N130!

Interior Overview

The cabin is in above-average shape and apart from the miles, it’s easy to see it was cared for in a prior life as well. The dashboard, which is typically prone to cracking, is in good nick, except for one hairline break atop the gauge hood, and the durable cloth upholstery has held up well, save for one light spot of driver bolster wear. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column, and functional power windows, door locks, and mirrors. All these work in typical Toyota fashion and even the rear glass powers down for some additional ventilation. For year-round use, cold A/C and piping hot heat can be mixed through the cabin. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have resisted major wear and tear over the years and are in good shape. For additional cargo needs, the second row folds up and flat to expand the usable space in the rear and also 4-way recline for optimal rear seat comfort. The headliner is taut against the roof, and the carpets haven’t succumbed to excessive staining or wear. Save for some wear on the steering wheel and an non functional audio, this rig is a gem!

Mechanical Overview

The body-on-frame platform is built to take some serious abuse, and the same can be said for the 1KZ-TE engine, which is punchy and efficient. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the power plant cranks to life care of two 12v batteries. New serpentine belts reliably drive your accessories, and we stopped any lubricant from escaping the engine with a new valve cover gasket. A new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of your petrol, and an engine air filter keeps the 1K breathing freely. We even dropped in a new radiator to keep this 3.0 properly chilled. The four-cylinder is linked to a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. To save fuel and deliver the best acceleration, the driver can choose to drive in 2WD. If snow and sand stand in your way, the selective transfer case is easy to plop into 4WD. In the worst motoring scenarios, a Low 4WD setting can be engaged too. A new steering damper and idler arm assist handling, and this N130 is a treat to drive on or off-road. To make steering seamless, we rebuilt the power steering pump with new seals. The look is completed with gunmetal alloys atop which we mounted and balanced all-new Falken all-terrain rubber. Turn key and ready to rock, this thing is good to go!
