By 1994 Toyota's famed mid engine, rear wheel drive sports coupe was in full swing. With each passing year, small changes were made that had major impacts. Suspension changes, power bumps, a stronger gearbox made an already capable car even more impressive. Couple that with Toyota's legendary reliability, this sleek mid-engine coupe offers incredible handling, fantastic acceleration, great fuel economy, and low cost of ownership. Finished in one of the MR2's most desirable colors, Super Red II (3E5), this example looks stunning on a set of period-correct 16" Volk Racing Gr.C wheels making it impossible to miss. The body has been well preserved, as it is free of any notable dents or dings, and the sheen from the clear coat glints off direct sunlight nicely. With the factory aero, new rounded taillights and painted center garnish this guy is definitely a head-turner.

Much like the body, the interior has been kept all original. The only real change-up comes in the form of an aftermarket radio. Since it already has an aftermarket unit it makes replacing it with something more US compatible much easier. As for longevity's sake, an Ultra turbo timer was mounted below the ignition. Otherwise, the stock interior has been left alone and well preserved. The driver's seat has been spared from any of the typical bolster wear that seems to plague most cars over the years. Both seats are free of any staining or fading which can be an issue with the T-top cars. The same can be said about the door cars and carpets which have held up great. The dash has been kept from any sun damage or peeling, making it a particularly nice cabin to spend an afternoon in. Fitted with all the factory options of the day; automatic climate control, power windows, locks, and mirrors are all functioning properly. With such a quiet and rather well-appointed cabin, this would make a great candidate for a daily driver.

The 1994 models had a host of upgrades, but the most important was to the motor. Now boasting more power, and quicker throttle response, Toyotas 3rd generation of their 1998cc feels like a perfect match for the chassis. Mechanically there have been a few nice additions made to this particular coupe. Power comes from the most desirable powerplant in the lineup, the 3S-GTE. Since out of the box these cars were a bit quiet for a proper sports coupe so a dual exit Fujitsubo catback was fitted. Now the turbo four can actually make itself known. Being that it's only a catback the tone is still subdued enough that you don't have any highway drone or are going to piss off the neighbors every time you start it up. To help make all the right noises on the other end of the motor are an HKS intake and blow off valve. Since the stock suspension was retained the ride is still plenty comfortable on long cruises yet is more than capable when the road gets windy. With only 97K verified miles this potent little Toyota is only just getting warmed up. It arrived here having been clearly well maintained, as with all of our vehicles our trained techs go over each one to address any concerns. This one needed very little to be US road-ready; 4 tires, a new battery and a routine oil change. Toyota knew what they were doing when they rolled out the 3rd revision of the SW20 and it shows. Whether you're looking for a weekend fun car or a new daily driver, the MR2 has it covered.
