The 80 series Land Cruiser offers one of the most convenient ownership experiences of any JDM import. The luxury of having a nearly identical version sold here stateside means nearly every part and service-related concern that someone might have can be addressed stateside. Like most of the Land Cruisers we retail, this example is a low mileage example, with only 103K verified miles on the odometer. Finished in Toyota's Silver/Gray two-tone (26P), the body is in good shape, sans some scratches on the lower front and rear bumpers, and some small dings and paint chips from normal use. Outfitted with a prized third row, a stout 4.5L gasoline engine, rugged four-wheel-drive system, along with front and rear LSD, this 1994 easily provides a better value than its US equivalents.

The spacious cabin of this FZJ80 is appointed in a soft, luxurious gray cloth. As many enthusiasts are aware, the VX trim level cars are hardly spartan, and this unit comes well equipped from the factory. Head, shoulder and legroom are expansive up front, and both passenger and driver have the benefit of a large functional sunroof. If you love the sunroof, you'll love the OEM rainguards which allow for a more pleasurable windows-down driving experience. An adjustable steering column and lumbar support make longer trips comfortable, and Toyota even included a cupholder location. The taller ride height allows for a commanding view of the road ahead. The large windshield and skinny A-Pillar offer a massive view of the row ahead. An off-road style gauge suite sits by the sunroof control switch should the road ahead become treacherous. Although the head unit was removed in Japan, a new more current unit would make this SUV perfect. The climate control works as it should, and this truck is happy to ferry about people and cargo in any season. Other neat options besides the third row is a factory cool-box refrigerator and a dedicated rear climate zone. The headliners, door cards, and carpets are in good shape, and the original owner's manual is even included in the sale. Power windows, door locks, and mirrors are also standard equipment on this model. Most importantly, the quiet well-insulated cabin is underpinned by legendary, and over-engineered mechanicals.

Toyota's 4x4 systems have always been lauded for durability, capabilities, and simplicity. The 80 series exemplified this, with a smooth 4476cc straight-six mated to full-time 4WD. Ignition is seamless, and the large displacement mill whirrs to life. Benefitting from am ECU rebuild and fresh oil service, this 1FZ-FE runs like a top and needn't be serviced for another three thousand miles. The automatic transmission shifts into gear properly and doesn't slam into gear or clunk at all. Acceleration is linear and the huge ute never seems to struggle to get up to interstate speeds. The OEM suspension is tunes out railroad ties and large potholes, and the power-assisted steering is easy to articulate. The polished, multi-piece alloys are shod with new all-season rubber-mounted and balanced by one of our expert technicians. They will provide tons of grip regardless of the road surface, and are much quieter than the set they replaced.

This brutish ute is actually easy to deal with on a daily basis and is loved for its low cost of ownership. Its bulletproof reliability and huge interior volume make this an ideal family hauler if you wish, and a certified Japanese Classic.
