You can imagine winding through the tall grasses of the Savannah in something like this 1994 Toyota Hilux Surf. Powered by a powerful turbodiesel and underpinned by four-wheel drive, this one-of-a-kind Desert Sand-colored truck turns plenty of heads regardless of its location. Sporting a set of polished alloys, a front brush guard, and a rare rear spoiler, the body is in good nick other than some minor dings associated with normal use. Offered with a mere 116K verified miles, this recently serviced and legally imported rig would make a capable, year-round cruiser if you choose. Boasting Toyota reliability, a few convenient power features, and striking styling, who wouldn't want to own this iconic off-road Japanese Classic.

The cabin is simple, straightforward, and includes a few upgrades. The dash is in good nick and lacks the somewhat common cracking and distortion that plagues these trucks. The driver receives an adjustable steering column as well as power window s and locks. For those who prefer a little extra breeze, we advise power tilting or retracting the sunroof which is fully functional. Additionally, the rear window retracts into the tailgate, perfect for a cruise on the beach. The automatic climate system is easy to use and above it is two pull-out cupholders. The seats are all in good nick, lacking any major rips, stains or tears except for the driver seat. The bolter next to the door has a tear to note, and can likely e fixed by an upholstery shop. The rear seats fold forward to create a larger cargo area and the rear window powers down if you have some long 2x4's to bring back from Lowes. The headliner is in good shape as are the door cards and carpets. However, the armrest on the right rear does show some warping from age. The interior isn't perfect and we did want to note that the power mirrors weren't working currently, nor is the head unit. Still, at twenty-five years old, it's obvious this Hilux was cared for overseas.

The driveline and platform are some of the most reliable and rugged units Toyota ever designed. These Surfs are known to be unstoppable and that's largely due to the 1KZ-TE that rests under the bonnet. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the three-liter mill cranks over quickly thanks to two new 12V batteries. The massive four-banger idles well and is connected to an automatic gearbox. This transmission shifts as it should thanks to a new rebuilt ECU with a lifetime warranty here in the US. These N130 trucks use selective transfer cases that can send power to the rear wheels or all four. The suspension is compliant for daily use and can handle the rigors of our rough American pavement. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light making this Surf easy to park in the city. Our technicians have mounted brand new Yokohama all-season rubber at all four corners and will last for years to come and provide plenty of grip both on and off-road.
