With styling that would make Rambo jealous and a legendary turbodiesel driveline, the J78 Land Cruiser is always in high demand. This 1994 SX is an awesome SUV, and is fresh off a recent service. Boasting a mere 155k verified and documented miles, this turn-key lifted Landy would make for a stellar overlander, family hauler, or weekend cruiser. Finished in a One-Off Basalt Black, this Prado is set off by a set of retro-themed graphics, aftermarket alloys shod with 33" rubber, LED tail lamps, a custom front bumper, and privacy tint. This black cruiser is surely a mean-looking truck, and aside from a few light scuffs, dings, and chips associated with normal use, this head-turner is in good nick overall. Practical, collectible, spacious, and fun to drive, this Japanese Classic is the real deal.

The cabin is in above-average shape and has way more electric equipment than you might expect. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as this tall ute rides far above traffic. The dash does have some light hairline cracking of note, which is usual for these models. The center stack includes a simple-to-use climate control system that allows the driver to circulate cold A/C or piping hot heat through the cabin. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and electric lumbar support to find so that they may find the optimal position to operate the truck. Power windows, door locks, and mirrors all work in typically Toyota fashion. It even includes an OEM electric sunroof to let in tons of natural light and a cool breeze. An Alpine audio system, with Bluetooth functionality, makes the cabin look more modern and works like a charm. It complements the sporty MOMO steering wheel and the textured upholstery of the seats and door cards. Speaking of which, both are in good nick and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The headliner has resisted major abuse over the years as have the carpets, and as a whole, this Prado was taken care of overseas.

Under the skin, a robust body on frame platform can hold up to the rigors of daily use and abuse. The powerplant is also known to be bulletproof, the 1KZ-TE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L fires up promptly care of two new 12v batteries. Linked to a smooth-shifting automatic transmission, this hauler is peppy about town and can handle highway speeds with confidence. The driver can choose between 2WD and 4WD depending on the outside conditions and a manual locker upgrade was performed at some point overseas, making this much more desirable to the off-road crowd. The lifted ProComp suspension offers plenty of ground clearance and this long wheelbase model is better than the J71 and J73 models when comparing high-speed stability. One of our trained techs has replaced the front lateral arm sleeve bushings, and after a fresh alignment she now drives right as rain. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. New 33" all-terrain tires have been mounted at all four corners and match the tough-guy aesthetic. They also will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
