The Pajero is secretly one of the best value SUV purchases for the money. Trucks like this 1994 are rugged, capable, and more refined than you'd expect. Powered by a grunty 2.8L turbo diesel, this seven-seater would be the perfect hauler for family or friends. Finished in a subtle Belize Green over Silver two-tone, the body is in good shape aside from some minor dings and scuffs associated with normal use. Adorned with an OEM spare tire cover and factory raingaurds, this Pajero is unique, stately, and doesn't scream for attention. Fresh off a recent service, the chassis boasts only 73k verified and documented miles. For those who value low cost of ownership and year-round practicality, this tough midsize SUV would make for an ideal Japanese Classic.

The cabin is in above average shape and has been cared for in a prior life overseas. The seats are nothing short of impressive, with the soft gray cloth lacking any major imperfections. They feature green embroidered logos and are supportive on long drives. The view ahead is commanding and clear as this tall Mistu rides far above traffic. The dash is in good shape and lacks any cracking or distortion. It even includes a molded passenger side grab handle in case you wanted to take this thing airborne. Below the handle is a sizable glovebox which even includes the factory manuals. The center stack includes a digital automatic climate system that's intuitive to use. We have recharged the a/c and it blows cold currently, and rear passengers have their own dedicated climate zone and controls. If natural ventilation is preferred the power windows retract to provide some fresh air. Other power equipment includes the electric side mirrors and locks. The power-folding function is no longer operational but it can be manually folded in tight parking. The driver can monitor important vitals such as the direction of travel, altitude, and outside temperature just to name a few. The carpets and door cards look cared for, as does the headliner, and were sure the next owner will really like the friendly confines of the sizable cabin.

These rigs are just as reliable as any Toyota or Honda, and this particular example is powered by a wonderful 4M40 turbodiesel. Displacing 2.8L, this large four-banger is fresh off an oil and filter service. It starts up promptly thanks to a new 12v battery and sets into a confident idle. The selective transfer case was ahead of its time, and offers the driver the ability to shift between 2WD and 4WD at up to speeds of 62 MPH. The other impressive feature is the optional center locking differential for all the offroaders to fawn over. All this runs through a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. Acceleration is brisk and this Pajero gets up to, and sustains highways speeds with ease. The adjustable suspension has selective settings for firm and soft and the on-road ride quality is above average for a Pajero. One of our trained techs has installed new front brake pads and rotors up front and the Mistu stops like a champ. The wheels are mounted in new all-terrain tires that will deliver premium year-round grip for tens of thousands of miles to come.
