This 1994 Land Cruiser is a smooth-riding yet capable rig. Featuring a silky and efficient inline-six turbodiesel and full-time 4WD, this SUV can take you nearly anywhere. Finished in a stately Dark Emerald Pearl (6M1), the body is in good shape other than some minor dings, scuffs, and chips associated with normal use. Boasting a mere 139K miles, this recently serviced and legally imported truck is a reliable, and highly collectible Japanese Classic.
The interior is clean, spacious, and full of power amenities. The view of the road ahead is both commanding and clear. Meanwhile, the dash lacks any major imperfections such as cracks or distortion. The driver also benefits from an adjustable steering column to get comfortable, and the automatic climate control is readily at hand. The OEM audio was ditched for a functional Carrozzaria unit and it sounds just fine for its age. Power mirrors, locks, and windows are all-electric and working. For those who prefer natural ventilation, interior buffeting and turbulence are kept to a minimum thanks to OEM rain guards. The VX Limited trucks were better optioned and this one also includes an operation sunroof that power retracts and tilts. The other big option is an OEM Hot and Coolbox center console that keeps drinks at the proper temperature. The seats are all trimmed in a blue and gray Alcantara. The material is soft to the touch and lacks any major ripping, stains, or tears. For those long cruises, the driver's seat even includes a power lumbar adjustment. Dedicated rear seat heat is a standard option and is helpful for the remaining days of winter. The headliner and carpets are all in average condition and the door cards look clean and are properly upholstered. The rear tailgate opens to a height of over 6ft and makes loading up heavy cargo easy to accomplish. The rear seats can be folded forward to accommodate even more cargo if necessary.
The drivetrain is simple, sturdy, and built to last. Fresh off an oil and filter service this 4.2L 1HD-T turbodiesel turns over quickly with the twist of the key. You can rest assured that during the few cold days left of winter she won't leave you stranded, as we have replaced both 12V batteries. The diesel sounds fantastic thanks to a pricey Ganador polished exhaust system. The engine feels refined and makes prodigious amounts of low-end torque. Mated to an automatic gearbox, this massive truck accelerates adequately and is geared properly for US interstates. Shifts are smooth and occur without any clunking or hesitation. The four-wheel-drive system is full-time and includes a selective transfer case with a low gear range. If the muck is intolerable and giving you fits, front limited-slip differentials are included and the center differential can be locked by depressing a dash-mounted button. Rancho shocks give this rig a decent ride quality and it can withstand the rigors of daily use without an issue. Large and small bumps are gobbled up by the suspension with much confidence. The brakes are happy to stop this 5,000+ pound rig, and the aftermarket alloys are all wrapped in new all-terrain tires. This rubber will last for years to come and ensure the proper grip even in less than ideal situations.
This terrific diesel 80 would make a wonderful family hauler or off-road toy. Including plenty of options and a nearly bulletproof drivetrain, this turn-key Land Cruiser turns heads and means business. Refined, rugged, and reliable it's truly a Japanese Classic!
