The 70 Series Prado is designed to be rugged, and over the years this trusty Toyota has proven itself to be one of the most capable and dependable platforms the brand has ever built. The sturdy body on frame design gives it the ability to handle the toughest terrain, though most have only seen street use throughout their ownership in Japan. This 1994 Land Cruiser Prado SX is fresh off a recent service and is turn-key ready for its next chapter here stateside. Originally finished in a two-tone Black over Gray (22Z), this truck has been completely refinished in a stylish one-off Mamba Black. The body and paint are in good condition but do have a few minor blemishes, dings, and scuffs associated with normal use. The black exterior is complemented by a set of factory rainguards, custom-painted factory wheels, and a textured white roof. This impressive-looking rig is being offered with a mere 167k verified and documented miles and would be a killer year-round daily driver, unique family hauler, or a fun weekend playtoy to trek over some trails. Whichever way you spin it, this Japanese Classic is designed to get the job done.

The interior is spacious, simple, and perfectly outfitted for daily driving. The seats are trimmed in a blue and gray cloth that is soft to the touch, and shows no notable defects other than typical wear from day-to-day use. The second row of seats folds out of the way creating an ample amount of cargo space for your larger items. The door cards are in good nick and free of any major defects showing just minor cracking along the top side of the driver's door. The carpets and headliner are also in decent condition showing some minor staining and sagging, but no rips or tears. The simple-to-use climate control system supplies cold A/C, for these last remaining summer months, and hot heat on demand, for winter use. To help make your commute more convenient, power windows, locks, and electric mirrors are all functional, and the aftermarket Carrozzeria headunit works great, providing good sound quality through the speakers. Adding some flair to the interior is the aftermarket wood steering wheel, which unfortunately does have a few chips at the 12 o'clock position. Being a 25-year-old vehicle it's safe to say things aren't always perfect. There are some light cracks and holes to note in both the dash and center console and both rear headrests are missing. All things considered, the interior has held up quite well these last few decades and even retains its original owner's manual and maintenance booklet.

The 1KZ-TE turbo diesel is a solid engine and easily propels this Prado up to highway speeds with ease. The engine fires right up with the assistance of two new 12V batteries that we installed here at the dealership. It idles with confidence and the next owner will likely love that the ECU has been professionally rebuilt and comes with a lifetime warranty! The 3.0L is fresh off an oil and filter service and creates gobs of low-end torque. Connected to an automatic transmission, shifts are smooth and city use is a breeze. Power is sent to all four wheels and the hubs can be locked electronically from inside the cabin, and function as they should. The 4WD system also includes low gearing to get you through some of those more challenging trails, and with the addition of a new output seal, the transfer case is surely up for the task. While back on the tarmac the suspension is plenty capable of handling the rigors of daily use and abuse, gobbling up road imperfections without a hitch and offering tons of ground clearance. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light and precise. Lastly, we mounted and balanced five new all-season tires. The new rubber substantially reduces road noise, but more importantly, will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
