The Toyota Mark II is a lot of car, and it does everything well. It's spacious, well built, reliable and fast. This 1994 is an enthusiast special, with its fire breathing 1JZ-GTE engine and its factory five speed manual gearbox. Finished in a fresh one-off coat of Bamboo Breeze, this sedan is set off by an OEM optional front lip, chrome Aristo alloys and a factory rear spoiler. Aside from a few light imperfections the body is in good shape and this five-seat rocket ship is fresh off a recent service. Offered with a mere 75k verified and documented miles on the clock, this Toyota is barely broken in too. Punchy, practical, and performance packed, this Japanese Classic is a sports saloon for the ages!
The cabin features an ergonomic design, decent space, and nice power equipment. The driver seat is a comfortable place with plenty of head, shoulder and legroom. A tilt and telescoping steering column helps the pilot to find the ideal driving position and the view of the road ahead is unencumbered. For added peace of mind, the steering wheel has an integrated SRS airbag. To make daily driving more enjoyable, power windows, electric door locks and power folding mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion. There's even a power moonroof that can assist with supplying the cabin with a natural breeze. The center stack is easily reachable and the automatic climate control is intuitive to use, doling out cold A/C and piping hot heat when called upon. The gray cloth upholstery is in above average shape and lacks any major, rips, stains or tears. A Kenwood head unit works like a charm and fills the cabin with tunes upon request. Overall this cabin is in good shape but that's not to say it's perfect as we wanted to note some hairline cracks forming above the instrumentation on the dash, and a missing knob for the audio. Save for some minor wear to the touch points, it's impressive how good this 30 year old sedan looks.
This Toyota features a balanced chassis and responsive handling. The long wheelbase is ideal for stability and these cars have a storied reputation on Japanese drift circuits for a reason. Power is brought on by the legendary 1JZ-GTE which is fresh off a recent service. It whirs to life care of a new 12v battery and the Yamaha I6 breathes freely thanks to a new intake air filter. New spark plugs are on hand for proper ignition and the 2.5L pulls hard to redline. We believe in preventative maintenance at Japanese Classics and the new owner will be relieved to know we performed a full timing belt service. A new thermostat helps get you up to temp and we performed a coolant flush for good measure. To ensure the oil level stays on full, one of our trained techs replaced the valve cover gaskets, and we also took care of a few other oil leaks while we had the JZX on the lift. The oil pan seal needed to be redone, so we removed it and gave it a refresh with some new RTV. New cam seals and a new PCV valve were chucked in, too, as was a new crank seal. The rehabbed 1J is connected to a five speed manual which is a blast to row back and forth. It also sounds great thanks to a Greddy catback exhaust. The gearbox lacks any hitches or grinds and makes the driving experience more fun and involved. Like a true sports car, torque is fed to the rear axle and this Tourer V sails up to highway speeds when you give it the beans. It doesn't peter out either and acceleration at high speed is better than almost any other import! A new one piece driveshaft keeps driveline vibration to a minimum, and we installed new coilovers to keep you planted in the twisties. If you're concerned about reeling this X90 in, new front brake pads are up to the task. The power steering is on point and benefits from new steering rack bushings. It drives straight as an arrow thanks to a fresh alignment and the suspension is stable and predictable. To make sure this vehicle passed its Virginia safety inspection new front lower ball joints and front caster arms were installed. The rear caster arm bushings were also cracked and warranted replacement so we took care of them. The late-model Toyota wheels are wrapped in new all season tires. The fresh rubber reduces road noise and most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come!
