As a whole, JDM cars are some of the best performing classics on the market in terms of build quality and investment appreciation. There is one king of the hill when it comes to imports and it's the MKIV Toyota Supra. This 1993 JZA80 is finished in a stunning Super White II (040) and goes as fast as it looks, packing a lightly modified VVT-i 2JZ-GTE and a six-speed Getrag gearbox. Also lifted from a newer Supra are the 98 spec headlights and taillights. The FRP bumper and OEM side skirts add to the aggressive aesthetic and the body is in good shape aside from some minor imperfections. Boasting a clean cabin, several expensive drivetrain upgrades, and a brand new suspension this coupe can be daily driven if you wish, or be used as a turn-key weekend toy. Recently serviced and legally imported, this JZA80 is an impressive performer backed by a brand that needs no introduction.
The cabin is in above-average shape and is ergonomic and well equipped. The interior is all driver-centric, and when you hunker down in the cockpit, you feel at one with the machine. The view of the road ahead offers decent visibility thanks to the skinny a-pillars and large front windscreen. The dash is in good shape and lacks any distortion and cracking which do plague the model. An expensive carbon fiber and leather wrapped TRD steering wheel and TRD 320kmph cluster greet the driver, and a tilt column makes sure they are comfortable. It is important to note that due to this TRD cluster upgrade mileage can not be verified on the chassis or engine and the vehicle is being sold with unknown miles. Besides a functional AddZest head unit the other major update is a set of Recaro confetti adjustable buckets. They look fantastic and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. They are also supportive on longer drives and keep driver and passenger from sloshing around in the twisties. Power windows, locks, and mirrors are standard and work as they should. The digital climate control system utilizes large, easy-to-press buttons and blows cold a/c for these long summer months ahead. The headliner and door cards look decent and the carpets have been kept free of major abuse thanks to a set of OEM mats that we're including in the sale.
The drivetrain that made this car famous was the 2JZ-GTE. This Supra left the factory with a twin-turbo 2JZ engine and a 6 speed V160 transmission and now features the desirable and upgraded late model VVT-i version of this engine (only available in the 1998 and up Supra's) which was swapped in place of the standard 2JZ-GTE and includes the proper OEM Supra VVT-i wiring harness and 6 M/T VVT-i ECU. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L churns over promptly thanks to a new 12v battery we have installed here stateside. We have also added in a new engine air filter, fuel filter, and replaced the valve cover gaskets to keep the powerplant happy and running tip-top. The naturally vibration-free mill sounds mean thanks to a free-flowing TRD exhaust and ARC intake box. The turbo flutter is sublime and an ARC front mount intercooler and ARC piping kit keep intake temps low. An ARC coolant overflow tank has also been added. The 2J is connected to the prized Getrag six-speed factory gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels. The transmission feels communicative and shifts without any issues such as grinds. The clutch has been upgraded but as to whom the manufacturer is we are unsure. What we can say is it holds the power well and this little slick top really moves when you get into the throttle and is a touch heavier than OEM unit. The handling is flat and the ride quality doesn't beat you up. This is thanks to a brand new set of Fortune Auto coilovers that we have installed which are height and damping adjustable. The brakes bite down hard to slow this spicy sportscar down to speed and the power steering is communicative and nicely weighted. The bronze 18" Work Emotions complete the package and are wrapped in nearly new sticky Bridgestone Potenza's.
