With it's midship layout, light weight chassis, and high revving turbo motor, the Toyota MR2 is a cult classic. With it's combination of power, reliability, and handling how could it not be? This '93 does have one key feature not found on the USDM models, and that's the fixed roof coupe option. All US SW20's came with the T Tops making these rather unique. To lack of glass means reduced weight, increased handling, and added chassis rigidity. Finished in Super Red II (3E5) and with only 98K verified miles, the particular car is a real standout. While the body has been pretty well maintained the paint does show some age to it. There's no chipping or peeling but it does have some spots that were touched up. On the front bumper towards the driver side there's a spot about about an inch in diameter, it appears a license plate bolt may have tagged it. Behind the rear driver side wheel is a scuff as well that can be seen in the pictures. Additional photos can always be provided upon request. Otherwise the exterior has been kept largely with the exception of a killer set of 17" matte bronze Work Emotion 11R's. The Works really set off the sporty looks and are in overall great shape. While hard to tell from the looks of it, the headlights and fogs have been upgraded to white HID's making it one of the more functional upgrades.

The interior has been kept up with particularly well, and has a few nice upgrades. The three spoke steering wheel looks right at home in the sporty cockpit and the weighted Razo shift knob feels great in the hand. The GT-S trim spec is fitted with cloth seats and door panel inserts which are in great shape. The driver side bolster does show some signs of wear but is typical for its age. The seats offer excellent support when the road gets twisty and are free of any notable stains or burns. All of the interior plastics are in great shape, unsurprising, as it's clear this vehicle has been well taken care of. SW20 dashes are prone to sun damage and this one shows no signs of warping or cracking. To the right of gauge cluster is an Apexi boost gauge and to the left is a GPS screen. Fitted with all the factory options of the day; automatic climate control, power windows, locks, and mirrors are all functioning properly. The A/C blows cold making it a great place to spend an afternoon blasting around.

The 3S-GTE power plant is notorious for it's reliability and ability to make great horsepower right out of the box. Mechanically this one has been kept largely stock but is sporting a few bonus power adders. The factory air box has been replaced with a reusable cone filter which really amps up the intake tone inside the cabin. To help breathing on the other end is a Fujitsubo single exit catback. The exhaust sounds wicked on startup with a deep tone that really opens up with the throttle. The 3S-GTE fires right up and idles nicely. Power comes on smoothly from the 2.0 and the turbo spools up quickly. When the turbo comes on line you know it, making this car a real blast on back roads. And to help in the handling department is a set of Tein coilovers giving both an aggressive ride height and enhanced stability. Shifting through the 5 speed manual transmission is smooth, and free of any grinds. This car is perfect for someone that's after a fantastic driver's car that could easily pull daily duty.
