Toyota has seven decades of experience building timeless off-roaders. This 1993 Land Cruiser Prado EX is truly iconic. From the old school styling down to the brutish 4x4 platform, it's clear to see this truck means serious business. Redone in a one-off Nightshade Black this truck is accented by rear privacy tint, LED taillights, and a set of OEM rainguards. The body is in good shape aside from some normal dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Best of all, this legally imported seven-seater has a plush cabin with plenty of upgrades and power equipment. Practical, unique, durable, and eye-catching, it's hard to argue that the KZJ78 isn't a Japanese Classic!

While you might expect a spartan cabin with a lack of amenities, it's quite the opposite experience. This truck was updated several times throughout its production and includes functional a/c, power windows, mirrors, and locks. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as this tall SUV rides far above traffic. The driver benefits additionally from power lumbar support and an adjustable steering column for ultimate comfort. The dash is in good shape and lacks the typical cracks that affect this model. If the a/c isn't for you, a large power-retractable sunroof sits atop the roof between the two front passengers. This unit also tilts for a light breeze and the natural light makes the cockpit feel even larger. A Kenwood touchscreen headunit replaces the dated factory one, and works like a charm. It even has a backup camera linked to it so you can park this bad boy without obliterating the Elantra hiding behind you. Our favorite cabin update is the leather-fitted seat covers that have been added to all three rows. They protect the Alcantara underneath and look lifted right out of a luxury sedan! If you have tons of cargo to transport the middle row can be tucked away and pulled forward. The rear row folds into the D-Pillar, convenitly and the rear cargo door are side hinged creating a wide loading area. The door cards and headliner are in above average condition and the carpets seem to have been well cared for in a prior life. Even the owner's manuals are still in the glovebox, which we're happily passing on to the buyer.

Beauty is only skin deep but this Land Cruiser disagrees. Perhaps the best part about owning one is the sturdy, simple mechanicals that underpin this rig. The engine powering this two-and-a-half-ton SUV is the 1KZ-TE. The legendary 3.0L is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly thanks to two new 12v batteries we installed here stateside. We love the low-end power the four-banger makes and it's connected to a selective transfer case. The driver can choose 2WD for efficiency, but 4WD with low gearing is available if the going gets tough. The hubs can be locked from inside the cabin and a sweet-shifting automatic makes daily driving or weekend cruising effortless. The power steering is light and easy to articulate and the suspension offers plenty of cushion on less than ideal road surfaces. One of our trained technicians has replaced the front brake pads and the Prado stops promptly when necessary. The aftermarket alloys have been wrapped in new Falken rubber at all four corners. We even replaced the spare with a matching full-size tire. These grippy new shoes will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and deliver premium year-round grip.
