1993 Toyota Hilux Surf TurboDiesel
The Hilux Surf is a robust rig that highlights Toyota's commitment to building a quality 4x4. This 1993 is finished in (8E3) Aztek Blue Pearl and offered with a mere 123k verified miles. Aside from a few minor dings and chips, the body is in good shape and is complemented by an OEM brush guard and a meaty set of Falken all-terrain rubber. These trucks have room for five, a few convenient power accessories, and a nearly bulletproof drivetrain. Legally imported and recently serviced these wonderful offroaders also make great overlanders and family haulers. Whatever use you find for it, we can guarantee this collectible JDM SUV is a Japanese Classic.
The cabin is simple, spacious and nicely equipped. Besides the upgraded Carrozzaria radio, which functions properly, this interior is unmodified. Power options including a functional power sunroof, electric windows, and power locks. The view of the road ahead is clear and the ride height is such that you see above traffic. The dash does have some cracking to note, which is common to these models. The other minor issue we wanted to note was that the power mirrors are now manually adjusted, but hey this thing is 25 years old. The Automatic climate control is easy to use and the a/c blows cold currently. The seats are comfy and upholstered in a soft gray cloth. They lack any major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears and the rear seat can fold forward to accommodate larger cargo. The headliner looks good, as do the door cards, and the carpet has some light stains we wanted to note. If you have a canine friend, the rear glass powers down for some additional ventilation. Even the original owner's manuals are in the glovebox for originality's sake.
The drivetrain is made to stand the test of time, and this example is powered by a torquey 1KZ-TE turbodiesel. Fresh off an oil and filter service, a new 12v battery aids the 3.0L in turning over. It idles confidently and is connected to an automatic gearbox. The transmission shifts properly and the driver can select 2WD or 4WD depending on their needs. Acceleration is impressive for an SUV and the Hilux never struggles to get up to highway speeds. To keep the engine temps in check we have replaced the old radiator with a new one and loaded up the system with new coolant. The suspension is simple and handles the rigors of daily driving and our trained techs have installed new tie rods and given her a fresh alignment to ensure proper tire wear. The brakes feel confident and the OEM alloys are all wrapped in new all-terrain rubber. These Falkens should last for tens of thousands of miles to come and deliver a premium year-round grip.
