In 1993, the 80 Series Land Cruiser was as refined, capable, and spacious as any SUV you could buy. While the American market enjoyed its version, it was missing the potent and efficient 4.2L turbo diesel-equipped model, with its gobs of torque providing potent off-the-line performance. Alas you can own one, and this Purple Haze (A24) example is fresh off a recent service, and turn key ready to rock. Aside from a few light dings and chips associated with normal use, this VXL is in good overall nick, and offered with a mere 140k verified and documented miles. Set off by projector headlamps and aftermarket tails, a 4" ProComp lift, charcoal-colored fender flares, and rear privacy tint, this Toyota is all business! Collectible, determined, and tough as nails, this Japanese Classic is a timeless ute that will only go up in value from here!

The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as this beast sits far above traffic. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and also receives a power lumbar adjuster to find the ideal driving position. The dash is in good shape overall aside from two small chips which have flaked off on the top surface. The wood grain steering wheel adds a more premium aesthetic to the cabin, and a Pioneer audio system supplies all the tunes necessary for a road trip. The center stack includes controls for the automatic climate system. They are easy to read and intuitive to use, and cold A/C and piping hot heat can be blasted upon request. If you prefer more natural ventilation, a large electric sunroof can be unfurled for a breeze. One of our favorite features is the massive factory CoolBox center console. It can make ice and chill your non-alcoholic beverage of choice. Power windows, door locks, and electric mirrors all function and make daily use more enjoyable. The gray and charcoal alcantara seats are in above-average condition. They are comfortable on long hauls and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The headliner and carpets have resisted major abuse over the years and the door cards are in fine shape, too. Our favorite upgrade is the sleeping platform and integrated storage area located in the rear. For overlanders and those with an active lifestyle, we know it will come in handy. That's not to say the cabin is perfect as we did want to note the cruise control is inoperable. Still at 25 years old, it's a bit of nitpicking.

Under the skin, this beefy truck is built onto a robust body-on-frame platform. The 1HD-T engine that powers this rig is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly care of two new 12v batteries and a new fuel filter. Two new accessory belts assist the new alternator and the new owner can rest assured that their electronics will be properly powered when called upon. A few oil leaks were attended to with our Land Cruiser up on the lift. The oil pump and front main seal were replaced by one of our trained techs and the transmission pan was resealed, too. This massive truck accelerates impressively and year-round grip comes from a surefooted full-time 4WD system. A center locker and low range transfer case can be utilized on sandy beaches or muddy trails if traction were to be an issue. The Land Cruiser sails over large and small potholes with its 4" lift and huge rolling stock. A new steering stabilizer, new front panhard bar, and front sway bar bushings insure the new owner will feel confident behind the wheel. The brakes are capable and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. It should be noted that we did replace two of the lines to the power steering cooler while it was in our shop, and there is a tiny leak noted at the pump, but nothing severe. Lastly, we wrapped the resurfaced OEM wheels with new 35" Falken rubber. The tires look all business, but most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
