Power and refinement are the two calling cards of the JZZ30 Soarer. This 1992 model packs a wallop; powered by a fire breathing 2.5L twin-turbo six sending power to the rear wheels. Offered with a mere 52K Verified miles, this Diamond White Pearl (051) coupe is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition, other than a few minor dings and scuffs from normal use. The sumptuous and well-appointed cabin makes this grand tourer just as ideal for a long weekend trip as it is a daily driver. Reasonably priced and respected for its performance and reliability, this Toyota is a certified Japanese Classic.

The Soarers cabin has been kept in good shape over the years. The standard features are numerous and include power-folding mirrors, an electric sunroof, locks, and windows. These items all work and the Soarer even includes cruise control which isn't something we often see. Equally uncommon at the time, the driver seat is power-adjustable and this coupe also includes a tilt steering column. Rear privacy tint was installed at some point and has kept much of the harmful rays of the sun away from the interior bits. The dash and door cards are uncracked, and the carpets and headliner are in good nick. The beige cloth seats are soft to the touch and comfortable on longs drives. They lack any major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears. The digital gauge cluster looks trick at night and oozes '90s appeal. A digital climate system works as it should and the OEM audio system pumps tunes through the speakers if you'd didn't want to hear those sweet turbo sounds pouring out from beneath the bonnet.

The heart of the drivetrain is Toyota's legendary 1JZ-GTE. This powerplant is smooth as silk; as one would expect from a proper straight-six. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2491cc mill fires up promptly with a twist of the key. Our technicians have installed a new 12V battery that should last for another 4-5 years, and endure the upcoming winter season without leaving you stranded. The powertrain has been left completely stock, and the horsepower is impressive for a current car, let alone a 28-year-old vehicle. An automatic transmission sends torque to the rear wheels and shifts properly without any hesitation or clunking. The brakes are confidence and the steering is power-assisted and light. Cutting edge at the time, Toyota's patented TEMS adjustable suspension is equipped in this example. From a cockpit mounted switch, the driver can adjust the firmness of the dampers depending on their driving preference. The only performance modification comes in the form of 17" Racing Hart Type C wheels. Wrapped in new rubber, they deliver premium grip and a quiet ride.
