Japanese executive sedans in the 1990's embodied so many traits that make a car desirable. Touting overwhelming comfort, cutting edge technology, bulletproof reliability, and understated styling. The same can be said about this particular example, a 1992 Nissan Cedric offered with only 31K verified miles. Finished in one of the rarest and most desirable hues, Black Emerald (DJ2), the body is in good shape other than a few minor dings and scuffs associated with normal use. Featuring some neat details such as OEM chrome rainguards and the original plush carpet mats and manuals that came from the car when sold new, this comfortable luxury sedan can be appreciated by those who value authenticity.

The cabin of this Cedric is incredibly clean, as was obviously loved by its last owner. The seats, carpets, and door cards all in great nick and the fit and finish is unreal. The blue textured seats, upholstered in a soft cloth are bolstered well and provide plenty of support on long-distance journeys. A power drivers seat, which was uncommon at the time, is convenient and is fully operational. When out on the open tarmac, the Y32 are loved for low noise, vibration, and harshness qualities. For thousands less than a Celsior, the Y32 offers better economy and similar levels of refinement. The dash, which is colored gray and lightly textured, is in good shape and devoid of any age or weather-related damage. Without A-pillar airbags, in combination with the low lying dash, provide excellent visibility when driving. The gauge cluster is simple and easy to read, as is the fully functional digital climate system. To convey the luxury feel, a white-faced OEM analog clock is mounted front and center. The A/C and heat can handle all four seasons, and work as they should. The rear row looks hardly used and can seat three additional persons in comfort. Power windows are supplied for all on board, and power locks and folding mirrors complete the list of electronic amenities.

Under the hood, Nissan's tried and true VG30DE is longitudinally mounted sending power to the rear wheels. This mill is easy to find parts for, simple to work on and knows for its durability. Mated to an automatic transmission, the two work in unison well, and the sedan never feels like it needs more power or more gears. Startup is trouble-free, and the V6 sets into a constant idle. When accelerating up to speed, the four-door shifts smoothly and goes through all the gears without issue. The OEM suspension and wheel/tire combo provide plenty of ground clearance and cushions the occupants from bumps large and small. The brakes stop the Y32 easily enough, and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. Benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service, the Cedric can be put to immediate use without any scheduled maintenance for another five thousand kilometers.

If you want an original, unmolested daily driver or a stock VIP car to use as a blank canvas, this Cedric is a wonderful option. It is a smooth, unique, and reliable sedan that can fit the whole crew, and get you where you need to go in style. Boasting a unique styling, quality interior appointments, and simple mechanicals, the Y32 is undoubtedly a Japanese Classic.
