Honda's iconic EG hatch is about as collectible as it gets for the brand. They really hit the nail on the head with the design, and this Civic is stylish, easy to work on, and a blast to drive. This 1992 is finished in a stunning Brilliant Silver which was refinished by the previous owner in Japan from (NH-537M) Pewter Gray Metallic and offered with only 84k verified and documented miles. Set off by a set of 15" Final Speed A-Tech alloys and rear privacy tint, the body and paint are in phenomenal shape aside from some very minor dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Powered by a peppy, recently serviced, four-banger, this lovable EG handles and drives great! As an economical daily driver, weekend cruiser, or clean base for a build, this little Honda is a certified Japanese Classic.
The cabin is in wonderful shape after 30 years and was cared for in a prior life in Japan. The seats are in good nick and are still soft to the touch. The gray upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is comfortable on long hauls. The view of the road ahead is clear and unobstructed and the dash lacks any cracking. There is some light damage where a nav mount was placed on the passenger side, but it's not that noticeable. The automatic climate control is simple to use and blows cold A/C and piping hot heat, thanks to a new thermostat. A Kenwood audio upgrade is at hand if you didn't want to hear that sweet song of the D-Series engine and the speaker quality is decent. The driver benefits from electric locks, mirrors, windows, and even a tilt-adjustable steering column. These all work like a charm and make daily use enjoyable. Unlike most vehicles of this age, it's also equipped with a driver-side SRS airbag. The headliner, carpets, and door cards look good and have resited major wear and tear over the years. We even have a spare key, owner's manuals, OEM carpet mats, and a Japanese maintenance booklet to include in the sale for originalities sake!
Honda powertrains during this era set industry standards for reliability and efficiency. They also happen to boast an inexpensive cost of ownership. This hatch uses a D15B for propulsion and benefits from a new 12v battery, engine air filter, and fresh oil and filter service. Best of all one of our trained techs has installed a new timing belt and water pump, which is the most expensive preventative maintained item the car has. This will save the next owner the expense, and add a great deal of peace of mind, as it relates to protecting their investment. Ignition is prompt and the four-cylinder is connected to a slick-shifting five-speed manual. Honda transmissions are always communicative and this one shifts without a hitch or grind! Power is fed to the front wheels and the Civic gets up to highway merging speeds without breaking a sweat. The brakes are grabby and the suspension is tight and predictable. We added some new trailing arm bushings for good measure, too! The steering is on point and the Civic goes right where you point it! The 15x7 alloys have deep tread on them and will last for a good while to come.
