The Hilux Surf is a timeless JDM SUV. They are durable, capable and parts and service are easy to find inexpensively in the US. This 1992 is finished in a subtle yet classic Prussian Red Pearl (25T) and offered with only 87k verified and documented miles. Set off by a set of OEM rain guards, a beefy factory front brushguard, refinished alloys, and oversized Bosch fog lights this SSR-X looks trail-ready. Aside from a few light chips, scuffs, and dings the body and paint are in good shape overall. Fresh off a recent service, this five-seat hauler would make for an affordable and unique daily driver, weekend workhorse, or family-friendly SUV. No matter how this next chapter unfolds this tremendous Toyota is a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is outfitted with a gray cloth interior that shows no major holes, stains, or tears aside from a rip on the driver's bolster. The seats are comfortable, supportive, and good on long trips while still feeling soft to the touch. There is a crack in the center of the dash, which is sadly a common occurrence in these N130s. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as the Hilux rides above traffic, which promotes decent visibility. The analog gauges are easy to read at a quick glance if needed while you're driving. One of the more rare features we hardly ever see is the OEM cruise control option. It makes commuting a snap and works like a charm. Power features such as electric windows, locks, and mirrors are all working properly and make daily use more convenient. The OEM rain guards allow the passengers to take a break from the cold A/C and get fresh air even if it's raining outside. The door cards are intact and don't show any major wear to be concerned with. Neither does the headliner, and the carpets are clean and have been well maintained. The factory radio was tossed out for a Carrozzeria double din head unit that works properly to supply tunes to the cabin. If you need more cargo room, the rear seats fold down 60/40, and can easily fit a lot more added gear when necessary. The rear glass does power retract if you have a pooch in the back or require some additional ventilation.

The mechanicals underneath the bonnet of this Hilux are simple and straightforward. The 3VZ-E V6 engine is low maintenance and reliable as almost all Toyotas of this era are and is fresh off an oil and filter service. Its starts up immediately as you turn the key, thanks to a fresh set of spark plugs and wires, and a new 12V battery. It's not the fastest SUV out there, but it easily gets up to highway merging speeds without breaking a sweat. To increase efficiency a new engine air filter has been fitted uncorking the 3.0L a touch. Also while in the shop our trained techs have taken care of a few other bits including installing a new fuel filter, distributor cap, and rotor. Best of all, the most expensive preventative maintenance service was performed! A new timing belt and water pump were done in our shop and have given the 3.0L a new lease on life! Power is sent to all four wheels when you need it, and the driver can select 2WD if traction is an issue. The suspension handles great on and off-road, delivering a comfortable and predictable ride even on a truck chassis. We added a set of new rear shocks and she drives much better than before! The brakes are confident when applied, and slow this rig with ease thanks to a new set of front brake pads. We also replaced all of the tires including the spare with new all-terrain rubber. These new tires fit the aesthetic and will provide tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip to come.
