Mid-engine cars give the driver the feel they are driving an exotic, but no one wants the repair bills that come with it. The good news is that the Toyota SW20 combines the athletic response of a hyper balanced sports car with the reliability of a Camry. This 1991 is finished in Super Red III (3J6) and offered with a mere 72K verified miles. The body of this coupe is in good nick other than some minor dings and chips associated with normal use. This stick shift, turbo model would be a great collector piece, daily driver, or show car but one thing is for sure; it's a bonafide Japanese Classic!

The interior is in better shape than most MR2's we offer and it has been well cared for in Japan. The dash is in good nick, lacking any major cracking or distortion. Power windows and locks are standard, and the OEM audio system works properly and is intuitive to use. The automatic climate works as it should, and we have installed a new A/C belt to replace the cracked one from Japan. The seats are trimmed in a perforated black/gray cloth and leather combo. They hold passengers in snugly, are soft to the touch, and lack any major imperfections like rips, holes, and tears. The steering wheel has been replaced with a classic Nardi unit with a TRD shift knob just at arm's length. For drivers of varying sizes, an adjustable column is standard as well. The carpets are in good nick, as is the headliner and door cards. The only real issue is a non-functioning fuel gauge, but then again this car is 29 years old so there are always going to be some small gremlins.

The mid-mounted 3S-GTE is one of Toyotas better engines, and that's saying something. Found in plenty of models both stateside and abroad, parts are inexpensive and service work is cheap on these units. This 1998cc mill is fresh off an oil and filter service, and one of our trained techs has also installed a new 12V battery. The 2.0L fires to life quickly, and sounds great to boot. Mated to a manual transmission, power is sent a short distance to the rear wheels. Acceleration is brisk, and the four-banger swiftly moves this coupe up to highway speeds. Gear changes are effortless with the five-speed and feels exceptionally well connected. The brakes are tidy and the power steering is direct and communicative. The factory alloy wheels are wrapped in new tires all around. They deliver premium all-season grip and quiet the ride down immeasurably.
