The N130 Hilux is admittedly from a different era. It's rugged, simple, and reliable as any tough Toyota SUV should be. The model is also high on style, featuring a sexy Recaro interior, rare OEM spare tire cover, factory rear spoiler, and polished brush guard. Finished in a subtle Forest Green (6J7) the body is in good shape aside from the normal dings, chips, touchups, and scuffs associated with daily use. Best of all, this rig is offered with a mere 109k verified and documented miles, which is much lower than stateside examples you'll typically see! Recently serviced and already legalized, this gasoline V6 powered truck offers a seamless ownership experience, all-weather usability, Toyota dependability, and room for five. As a daily driver, kid ferry, or off-road play toy this 1991 is a great value and a certified Japanese Classic.

It's really nice to see a manufacturer try something unique and different, and this SSR-G boasts the rare and desirable Recaro seating package. In a sports car that might be kind of neat, but this is a truck, which makes the option especially wicked! The highly bolstered front buckets are the star of the show. Just like the rear bench they are in above average shape and lack any major rips stains or tears. The door cards are also an upgrade over the regular interior and look equally good. Tons of room is available throughout the cabin and the view of the road ahead is clear and commanding. The dashboard lacks any cracking or distortion which does tend to plague these models. The layout is also logical, ergonomic, and the controls are all within reach. The auto climate control system is intuitive to use and blows cold A/C for these last remaining warm days of the year. Pull-out cupholders are sandwiched between the automatic climate control and Kenwood head unit, which was upgraded in Japan. The audio quality is actually quite good and the system even includes an auxiliary input for your smartphone. Other power equipment includes functional electric windows, locks, and mirrors. For those who prefer natural ventilation, an electric retractable sunroof was optioned in this car, and pairs well with the power rear glass window. It even has a rarely seen factory cruise control that works quite well! The headliner and carpets have resisted major abuse over the years and the rear cargo area lacks any major blemishes. All told, this well-equipped Surf is in above average shape and was cared for in Japan, undoubtedly.

For convenience, there are very few models that are better to buy than this truck. The reason we make this claim is that the model was sold here stateside, so if you need maintenance or repair items, they are readily available in the US. Speaking of which the 3VZ-E is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly thanks to a new 12v battery. The gasoline V6 breathes a touch better thanks to a new engine air filter. While it was up in the air, we also replaced the distributor cap and rotor, injectors, and spark plugs to get the engine running tip-top. The 3.0L idles with confidence and sends power through a slick-shifting automatic transmission. The driver can select 2WD or 4WD depending on the road conditions and the transfer case includes a low gear set, too. Acceleration is more than adequate to get up to highway speeds and the TEMS adjustable suspension is predictable, compliant, and up to the task of daily use. The brakes are also confident and power steering makes this midsize truck a cinch to park. The split four-spoke OEM alloys are all wrapped in brand new grippy all-terrain Falken rolling stock that are deep in tread. These not only look great but will provide tens of thousands of miles of year-round adhesion for a long, long time to come.
