Beginning in 1991 the Nissan Silvia K’s moved from the CA18DET to the SR20DET. The CA18DET had become too expensive to produce and no longer met Japanese emission standards. This change meant nearly a 20% increase in power and was welcomed by consumers. Now replacement and aftermarket parts for the SR20DET are abundant (even in the U.S.) and it’s become an extremely popular engine for tuners. This 1991 example is in good condition with light modifications. The paint shines nicely but does have some light blemishes, most noticeably in the clearcoat of the bonnet. The body is straight with no major dents or dings and a set of period correct 16” Advan SA3R wheels pair nicely with an otherwise OEM appearance.

The interior is above average for a 25 year old vehicle but does show some wear. This is mostly isolated to the front seats which are worn and the dash which suffers from the typical cracking found with the S13. The door panels are clean and in very nice condition. The carpet matches and is free of major stains. The interior has been kept mostly original in appearance with the exception of some Alpine audio equipment.

The SR20DET starts right away, idles smoothly, and accelerates well. Shifts through the 5 speed transmission are smooth and the clutch does not slip. The factory viscous limited-slip differential and “Super HICAS” system are present and functioning correctly. KTS coilovers replace the stock suspension and a 3” Bee-R catback exhaust has also been added. Currently it has 105k original miles - Overall it’s mechanically sound and ready to be driven.
