In 1990 Nissan decided to drop an SR20DET into a Pulsar hatch and equip it with AWD for racing purposes. This variant was known as the “GTi-R” and it went on to eventually dominate the FIA Group N championship in 1992, finishing 1st and 2nd overall. This 1991 Nissan Pulsar GTi-R (RA) is a very clean example that’s modified with performance in mind. The exterior remains mostly original in appearance and is in nice condition. The paint shines nicely and has no severe blemishes. The body is in similar shape with straight panels and no major dents or dings. Currently it has 62k original miles.
The interior is also very clean and has been well taken care of. The previous owner has made a few changes which include a partial 4 point roll cage and Tomei short throw shifter. The dash has two cracks which unfortunately is common with the N14 – but otherwise there are no bubbles or fading. The door panels and seats both show minimal wear and have no major rips or tears. The carpet is in similar shape with no severe stains.
The SR20DET starts right away and pulls strong under boost thanks to a Greddy T06-20G turbo kit. The kit also includes a Greddy/Trust turbo manifold, wastegate, and 3" downpipe which sound great when paired with the 3” Kakimoto catback exhaust. Other changes include an ARC top mount intercooler, Earls stainless steel brake lines, upgraded coilovers, and an Ogura clutch. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch shows no signs of slipping when transferring power through the ATTESA AWD system.
