Nearly 10 years ago, Nissan's R32 Skyline was many Americans' first foray into the world of Japanese Classics and our 1991 GTST is as good of an example as any. Finished in Black Pearl (KH3) the exterior styling is simple yet spartan and is accented by a tasteful set of OEM GTR alloys. Underpinned by the correct turbocharged, manual drivetrain, this sleek Skyline has racked up a mere 76k verified and documented miles over the years and is turn-key ready for a successful life ahead on stateside shores. Easy to drive, service and repair, these R32's are one of Nissan's most storied models here in the USA and one heck of a good deal on a classic sports car!
The interior of this coupe is timeless, comfortable, and offers up enough space and amenities to make daily driving in the 21st century a walk in the park. The seats are upholstered in a durable grey cloth and are still clean and well bolstered for day to day use. Typically prone to UV cracks and distortion, the dash on this 32 has also miraculously resisted unwanted wear and tear outside of a few light spots of discoloration. Nestled in the center stack, digital automatic climate control feels surprisingly modern and is ripe with both cold A/C and hot heat for our increasingly temperamental climate. Adjacent to the HVAC, AddZest audio is fully operable and pumps out the tunes at above average sound quality. Power windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors all work as advertised and make daily use a bit easier. The headliner is taut against the roof and the carpeting has been kept tidy thanks to some OEM mats. Overall for a cabin that's over three decades old it's really hard to complain about the condition. The automatic shift display no longer operates due to the transmission swap, but that does little to take away from this interior's appeal as a whole.
The RB20DET under the bonnet has received high marks from stateside enthusiasts and is easy to service too! Our trained technicians have taken care of a comprehensive check-in service, which included a fresh timing belt and water pump install to get you on track for the next ten years or 100,000 kilometers. We also replaced the serpentine belts with all new ones and installed a new thermostat to help keep the RB cool. An oil and filter service was performed, and we also replaced the engine air filter for a bit of a tune up. A Kakimoto R catback not only looks menacing protruding from the rear bumper, it accentuates the RB's exhaust tone too! A brand new R33 manual gearbox was swapped in, replacing the original factory slushbox. Shifts are crisp and really help to make the most of the 2.0T's broad powerband. The stock suspension feels surprisingly healthy and soaks up bumps without a hitch, and we installed new HICAS arms in the rear to get the drivetrain into compliance. The power assisted steering is light and on point, and new brake pads and rotors on the front bring this coupe to a screeching halt if required. The GTR alloys are wrapped in fresh Falken rubber. Necessary on this RWD rocket, they should provide plenty of grip and comfort for tens of thousands of miles to come!
