For enthusiasts, there aren't many appealing SUVs out there on the market. This 1991 Pajero is the real deal, with its body-on-frame structure, torquey turbodiesel, and manual gearbox. Finished in Barbados Blue over Hamilton Silver, the body is in good shape aside from a dent on the rear bumper, peeling on the chrome, and some light chips, scuffs, and dings associated with normal use. Offered with a mere 139k verified and documented miles, this truck is fresh off a recent service and turn-key ready to rock. Reliable, capable, fun to drive, and renowned globally for its unstoppable nature, this Mitsubishi is a certified Japanese Classic that can be enjoyed year-round!

The cabin is slightly larger than the Hilux Surf it competes against and it actually has a few more electric amenities, namely the standard dual-zone digital climate control!  Easy to use, it works like a charm and compliments the electric mirrors, locks, and windows. These all work as advertised other than the power fold function of the mirrors. As far as condition goes, it's really hard to pick this cabin apart. The factory cloth upholstery shows nicely, aside from some light age-related staining, and the complementary monochromatic blue trim on the dash and door cards looks great to boot. A single din Kenwood headunit is nestled in the center stack and adds some modernity to the otherwise period-correct interior. A factory field monitor works as expected other than the compass and displays some parameters any adventurous enthusiast would find helpful. The second and third rows provide additional transportation for up to 7 passengers and can be folded flat to add some additional cargo space if you choose to fly solo. The headliner is clean, and aside from some broken rear cupholders and wear on the center console and other interior plastics it's not easy to pick apart the condition. That's not to say the cabin is perfect, and we wanted to note the sunroof no longer power retracts and has been sealed. Still, at 25 years old, it's remarkable how well this truck has held up.

The simple and sturdy underpinnings of this Pajero shine when off the beaten path, but this example is surprisingly civil on pavement, too. The 4D56 is a simple engine, tuned for longevity and efficiency. The 2.5L is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up with the twist of the key and new serpentine belts keep the electronics properly powered. A new engine air filter works to maximize power and fuel efficiency, too. One of our trained techs replaced the timing belt and water pump so that the next owner can rest assured an immediate road trip can be undertaken. Mated to a close-ratio five-speed manual, the driver feels much more control over the vehicle compared to the normal automatic, and we've even installed a new starter and transmission mount to keep operation smooth. For off-road enthusiasts and explorers alike, the Super Select 4WD system is pretty advanced. A locking center differential can be engaged when necessary and the driver can switch between two and four-wheel drive at speeds up to 62 mph. A new front left axle was replaced by one of our trained techs to ensure the power is sent to the ground properly. The suspension is forgiving and handles large and small potholes alike without breaking a sweat. There are few squeaks and rattles that filter through the cabin and these make wonderful family haulers and daily commuters. The power steering is light and easy to articulate and the brakes have been refreshed with a new front right caliper. The 31" Falken rubber grips nicely, and while not a fresh replacement they have only a few thousand miles on them and are sure to deliver plenty of grip for the road ahead.
